I knew I should have taken the camera with me today, there is a reason I call Riches shop Mopar heaven. God, you guys would be turing your own crank's looking at the PIC. Out front was a 70 Challanger T/A, 71 Charger R/T with ram air, 71 Charger R/T butter scotch in color, 2 other 71 Chargers and 1 was for sell, 69 Road Runner 440 6-barrel, and lesser car's. In side, 70 Cuda, 66 Charger, and I was sitting in a 70 Hemi Challenger number matching remains while I was talking with Pop's, Riches dad. I should have taken the camera. :'(

OK, first what happen at D&D machine shop, went the way I though it would. While I was talking with Pop's about what happen with my 440 Pop's said "Rick is a good guy, he will do the right thing" and that made me feel better. That did not last long. Got to D&D, shop is at there house which is fine. Rick was not there and had to deal with dad. Told him what we think might be wrong first thing Dan the dad said was "we did not buy any of the parts" said I know and I wll supply the parts. Then he said "there is no warranty's on HP engines" told him Rick said "I will give you a break in warranty as long as there is no signs of lack of oil or over reving I can tell if that has happen". Next Dan said "Rick said if you said that to tell you, he wants to see it in writing"! Just looked at him and said I thought I was dealing with a man of his word, see I was wrong" and just walked away. No reason to fight with him, and I did not make Rick put it in writting.

Went back to Mopar heaven, was meeting someone there. Rich found time to talk with me. Told him what has happen, he all so did not like the way I was did. He will talk with Dan when he drops off a 440 Friday. Rich has knowen me for 15 years's plus. He has never seen me blow up a Mopar and he has seen all of them. He has all so knows I never ask for something for nothing. Heck, I be happy to supply any need'ed parts for repairs if I was given a break on working the 440 block. Like Rich said if Dan said "pull the 440 and get it down here and we will see what went wrong and we will take it from there" they would be doing the right thing. I all so would have been happy with that.

Now the real odd thing, Rich and I had time to talk in detail about the 440. He seem's to think I may have caused the problem. Why that is odd, makes me feel better about the mess. If I broke it that is fine, I screwd up and not srewed over.

We talked about the cam break in, when the timing was retared and header's got hot! Rich pointed out with the burning temp being so high I may have hurst some skrits on the pistons. What heat the exhaust could not get out, heat would have got through the rings and went down the walls hurt the skrits. But he like all you other still wonder why the rattel is louder when warm than cold.

Oh well, onces again we will know more after the autopsy. Will talk with Scott Thursday and hope to have the 440 out by this weekend.

                         Ken, not as pissed again
I am back

Ghoste

Ken, I've been following your posts on this project as closely as I can and I have to tell, I can almost feel your relief.  I'm glad to hear whenever you make some progress and I know it doesn't really help the problem but I think I speak for a bunch of us when I say that I look forward to your post about how great the car is running.
