courtesy lamp cover keeps getting burned.

Has anyone had a problem with the 1969 courtesy lamp covers getting burn marks?  These covers on each side of the trans/console cover seem to get burned when they are on for any length of time, maybe 5-10 minutes or more.  Do you have a solution?  I purchased w/ burnt covers and now the new ones are also burnt.  Any recommendations?

If you must leave them on for extended periods of time, you may want to lower the wattage of the bulbs so they don't get so hot.
