17x8 all round what tyres should i use

just got a set of 17x8 with 4.5 backspace for my 70 charger
could anyone recomend tyre sizes that wont rub?

I'm about to install a set of 17x8s myself on my 71 GTX

Right now I'm leaning towards 235-50-17s and 255-50-17s.

You can go up to 275-50-17 on an 8" rim in back, but pickin's are slim. Nitto and Falken seem to make the only tires that size. More tire will fit, but you really need a wider rim.

You can squeeze a 255-50-17 up front, but it is REAL tight. I ran these on my 69 for a while.

471_Magnum  did you ever buy tires?...........I have 17 x 8 fronts and 17 x 9 rears........what was the size you ended up getting...I was leaning towards 255/50/17 fronts and 275/50/17 or larger...
