I havent even found a soundtrack listed for the 1997 version, only the original. It WILL list all the songs played in the movie at the end of the credits....

Nope, just ran the dvd through to the credits and it does NOT list the songs on that one.  I can watch the movie and give you any songs on there that I know but if the score is original then I'm out of luck.  Ted Stephens might know, he seems to be the worlds expert on that film.

I've listened to the song and sorry, I have no idea what it is or even who the woman is singing it.  The remake is ok but they should have had a different person for the DJ and cleaned up the automotive bloopers.

BTW, I know in the original, they crashed a 68 Camaro into the bulldozers.  What did they use for the '97 remake?  I only saw it once long ago.

The charger that was crashed in the 97 version was TOAST!  It was bondo city and literally ANY piece that was good was TAKEN off!

Charlie Carner, who wrote the remake is  MOPAR GUY. He has a 70 Challenger R/T 383 4 Speed that was used to teach Viggo Mortensen WHO to drive a Pistol-Grip equipped Mopar.  He also kept the Nice Charger that was used in the rest of the scenes. And that car is VERY VERY nice!  The crash car wasn't suitable for anything else.

The car that hit the bulldozers was a clapped out 74 that had been used for bits and pieces for the star cars.

no good cars were harmed in the making of this movie! (Cept maybe that car that jumped out of that tunnel!!!!!!!)

I prefer the 97 version to the lame 60's Hippy version. At least the 97 movie had dialogue and a storyline that made sense .

I thought a chellenger was in the original movie not a camero or did they use a camero for the bulldoxer crash?? I'll have to rent the boring movie again. I've never seem the 97 version!

A 1970 Challenger was used in both flicks.  But in the original version, when it came time to actually crash the car into the bulldozers, they substituted a '68 Camaro instead.  Camera angles and creative cuts hide this pretty well, but if you freeze frame review it, you can tell its a Camaro.

And just as an aside, I think the original crash was much more spectacular than the remakes crash.  The remake crash looks like it might have been going 30 or 40 mph, but the original was obviously going much faster with the rear of the car ending up pointing skyward.  That was intense

Those are some great screen shots LP 

Two things I notice right away.
1) The car was already starting to explode, even before it hit the dozers.
2) The Camaro, despite only being a few years old, was already showing signs of rust in the lower side of the passenger door

i wonder if tarantino will remake dirty mary crazy larry.i know he is a fan cos it showed bridgit fonda watching it in jackie brown and also links in deathproof.

I know I'm digging up the dead here but I finally found one of the tracks from the 1997 film. Look up John Doe Thing -Fallen Tears on YouTube. This is called out right in the movie but wasn't online several years ago when I looked. Has anyone identified the other tracks? Thanks and enjoy

A few facts, a few opinions:
* The stunt car used in the 1971 movie was a 1967 Camaro. No, not a '68 and not a Camero. How people screw up the names of cars when the emblems are clearly visible is a mystery to me.
* The 1971 version was  a product if it's time. A lot of movies back then didn't explain themselves. It was left to interpretation because back then, people thought for themselves instead of looking to facebook or the media to tell them what to think.
* The 1997 move featured Jason Priestley because the movie was a remake by FOX, the same company that owned the rights to the original. JP was the lead star in a FOX TV series, Beverly Hills 90210 and JP is actually a car guy. Why they chose Viggo to play Kowalski is unknown to me. He mumbles and is too soft spoken. You need close captioning to follow his dialogue.
* I thought the addition of the '71 Road Runner and '68 Charger to VP '97 were great.

its weird how hearing a song / music from a film that you have forgotten about  , can transport you back to the film with in just a couple of seconds !  not seen  the remake of vanishing point for years ,  was it really 97  it was made ! time flies   ,
