I'm hoping this is a necessity as dictated by the TSA (stupid it may be) and not some employee's lack of common sense showing. All I can think of is that the "metal" on her torso could mask other metal items (read "utility knives" ) and that they want to be extra careful. This piercing problem is now guaranteed to be looked at by the TSA. Hah!

Yep, dumb is as dumb does. Unless the reason was the close proximity of twin bulbous orbs which could be used as a hidey place...

It's official, the terrorists have won.

This is effing STUPID.

I say the security guard made the right call on this one. Suppose she had really huge breasts & the nipple rings were as big as rim blow steering wheels? She could force her way into the cockpit, get both the pilot & the co-pilot locked in them by the neck, strangle them both simultaneously, & force the plane to crash.  :o

I know I feel safer.  :2thumbs:

Probably because they could physically see that one.

Exactly. If they had forced her to show them the other piercings, this'd be a completely different news story. Wouldn't it?

nh_mopar_fan

That's a crappy account of what happened.

She offered to show them to one of the female officers in private.

They said that wasn't good enough.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/28/nipple.ring/index.html

"With tears streaming down her face, she again asked to show the piercings to a TSA officer instead of having to remove them. She was told, however, she would not be allowed to fly unless she removed them. Had she been told that she had a right to a pat-down, she would have chosen that option."
