I was over at cuda-challenger.com and I saw this...

"Heres one of the paragraphs within the article. "By the time the training ended at 11:30 am the car had been turned into a convertiable and the body cut into four sections and thrown into a scrap metal hopper for recycling." Elsewhere in the article it said this was one of the first built by Chrysler.  RIP 2009 Challenger.  Personally I'd built a roll cage in that shell and that Chally would have been a drag car. BTW, the firefighters started their lil training exercise a 9:30 am, so in a 2 hour span they chopped the Chally into"

I guess the fire dept. has to practice because we all know that someone is going to test the airbag system and they would have to be cut out of the car....good training I would say.

I wouldn't be shocked if Chrysler delivered them a bunch of preproduction mules, or unibodies that were yanked for quality control tolerances, etc.

most manufacturers give the cars away for things like this. they can never sell the to the public for legal/safety reasons (pre-production cars) so this is the best way to recoupe some investment. they get a tax break for "donating" them.

just like when you see a car show on TV,  doing a major build or a car at SEMA from one of the Big3(4). those cars never get sold to the public, just crushed afterwards.

not really much of a waste, it's not like they are on the road yet. besides I have to agree with the previous statement in regards to someone WILL test the airbags
