Painting anodized metal

I'm not sure I want a gold oil pan

Has anybody painted a Milodon oil pan or similar item?  Any special primer or prep needed?

A guy I know painted one Ford blue but I honestly have no idea if he did anything special to it.  Given this particular person's normal modes of operation, I'd guess he shot it with a rattle can.  I haven't looked closely at the car in awhile so I can't testify to it's keeping the appearance.  It looked good when it was fresh though.

That anodized coating it to protect from corrosion. I do that will the heicopters I work on. You should be fine by just painting the oil pan. it wont hurt to scuff sand the oil pan before. That way the primer has something to grab a hold of. Then you can paint it what ever color you desire!!! Hope this helps.
