Anyone else ever have a mustang follow them?

Took the '68 on a customer call, daughter in tow (Easter Break, and all  :2thumbs: ) and was cruising back on the expressway when I spied a late model Mustang slide behind me. It stayed on my tail for a few miles, matching my lane changes and speed corrections (2 barrels open, followed by 4-barrels opened  :icon_smile_tongue: ) until it finally turned off the road. I tried to snap a few photos of the car in my rear view, but driving a stick, while holding a diet coke, and trying to snap the shutter on an iPhone is damn near impossible (see photo below). The experience, though, gave me a smile. Anyone else go through this?

The second photo is, of course, my Charger girl....  :yesnod:

never happened in a mustang but had some clown in a early 70's firebird try (key word being TRY) to keep up with the charger..well that didnt last long put the foot down and he was history

It's pretty much an everyday occurance where I'm from.  Everybody around here drives a friggen Mustang.  I spotted a 2003 Cobra today on a car lot that I would looove to have  :drool5:

yup over a bridge in my dads old black 68 charger and a dark green 67 mustang gt 289 with gold stripes was on our ass and we knew he got the reference -MATT

I had just about the same thing happen only instead of turning off the road he turned on his blue lights and introduced himself  :police:.  Just about all the local forces around here have them in their traffic patrol  :patrol:.  Most are unmarked and some in the performance GT or Cobra versions with stripes and all the badging (no pun intended).

I have been in three encounters with Mustangs.

First, was a late 80's 5.0 LX that pulled up next to us at a stoplight while I had my '68. Unfortunately, my wife was driving for some reason and the road was wet from a light rain. I told her to ease it out but when the light turned she nailed the gas and went sideways. The LX took off and I am sure that made his day.

Second, while I was riding with dad in his 1969 Charger R/T(sold long ago) a hot shot I knew from town came up behind in his 67' Mustang 289 4bbl.  I told dad what he was running. That just made dad laugh, he said "Let's show him what a 440 is", and floored it. Before the guy gave up they must have been 20 car lengths between us.

Third, and this is probably my favorite, I was coming back from a day of junking at a local salvage yard with a truckload of old Dodge parts. I had a '92 Ram 150 2wd with a stock Magnum 318 that ran really good. I was heading out of town and this guy pulled out in front of me with a nice '69 Mach 1 351 4bbl that I had seen at a car show previously. We were in a 25mph zone and I just followed him slowly out of town. I could see him looking back in the rear view mirror and as soon as we got to the 55mph zone he floored it. It must have been quite a surprise to the guy when the old truck stayed right on his tail all the way to 90mph. He did give me a thumbs up as he turned off though.  :2thumbs:

I can't go more than a quarter of a mile at any time of day with out seeing one. They get on my nerves, because they all SOUND THE SAME!

What a beautiful car, it must be so nice to see them on the road.  Here in CT I never ever see them and my friend has 3 and lives 2 miles up the road.  All that will change when mine is back on the road.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I beat all the local kids around here in my Cummins. Cant wait to do it in a Charger or Super Bee.

This guy in a 80's LX really wanted to race me bad saturday nite. I saw him weaving thru traffic to catch up to me. Then he got next to me and started reving the motor. I had my pregnant wife in the car or i would've ran him. There was way to many cars on the road that nite and i wouldn't have been able to get on it and i'ld be on someones ass. So i just kinda smiled a waved him off. :nana:

Nice views to compare the two. Tell me, how could anyone only want a mustang? A Charger would definitely be first (which is why 'Stangs are always following, I guess).   :smilielol:

You done the right thing!  :2thumbs:

A mustang did follow my '71 duster once. He was circling around town and spotted us. He then pulled up beside of us at the light. My dad was driving and the staged the 'ol plymouth up pretty good. He let the mustang have a head start. Then Dad dropped the clutch and shot a good 6 car lengths past the mustang. They didnt follow us no more...  :icon_smile_big:
"Remember when I said this car was death proof? Well that wasnt' a lie-this car is 100%death proof- only to get the benefit of it honey you really need to be sitting in my seat"...
