Aaron, nice choice! I love 2nd gen. Camaros! My dad's friend had a silver with black striped 71 R/S Z28 and then my dad had a blue 71 RS Z28...it looked ALOT like yours. What are your plans for it?

Where at in Yelm???? I'm @ 10 minutes away....I think I know....
There is a guy in Yelm with a BUNCH of cars.....but mostly 50's Fords and Mopar musclecars....he's always got something for sale.

I was never a fan of those Camaros.....until I owned one. A '72 RS. Alot of fun to drive, handle good too. Thought of getting another for a full out street racer...but probably not anytime soon.

Nice project!

Thanks Cody, it's a 71 r/s, original color is acsot blue, I'll probably go back to that and restore it stock, less wheels and ride height. I like the look of vette rallys and a bit lower stance. If when I sand it I find stripes, I'll put them back on. I'm kinda interested in keeping this one stock.  ok maybe a turbo  :yesnod:

Pettyfan..umm no!  :slap:  :D

I just HAD TO!! That is actually MY favorite Camaro bodystyle, Same for Firebirds. Once the back window wraps around, i lose interest!

Just had to rattle your cage a little! Great score.   ;)

You won't get any complaints from me. Even though I own 12 mopars, I also own a few camaros and Trans Ams as well. Here's a pic of my next project, a matching numbers SS/RS 4-speed car. When I bought it, I thought it was a Z28, but then found out that it was a real SS/RS instead. I had planned to install a 396 big block until I found the original engine and 4 speed in a guys storage building. Long story. Anyway it's sitting next to my paint booth waiting it's turn.
Can't wait to hear more about your Camaro.
You miight think about starting a resto thread over on nastyZ28.com and post a link here.

Thanks Charger guy, Me too.

Very nice project Hotrod, that's the car your wife's helping with, isn't it? cool story. I meant to post about that, but was late for work when I read it. forgot about it I guess. My wife loves working on cars too, I think she's more excited about a new project than I am. We're lucky guys, you and I :yesnod:

I'll get over to nastyz28 soon and check it out, thanks :2thumbs:

Cody..So ..ya selling it, or just teasing me?

I'm still gathering parts for the Camaro. Meanwhile, I bought a 72 Runner last week for cheap. I'm going to use it for a daily driver for now. It's a 400, automatic, a/c car. Everything works, even the factory tach. Just needs a little tlc.
Let me know if you start a resto thread on your car at nastyz28.

Darn, here in Texas it is a pre-requisite to have one of those in front of every trailer house in everytrailer park, parked next to non-functional washing machines and lawnmowers with 3 feet of grass growing around them. You can get them down here for about .10 cents on the pound, complete with broken in half door handles, curled up dashboards, hanging headliners, channel lock plier activated windows and broken steering columns. Depending on the length of the mullet hair-cut the guy has that is selling one of those beauties, you may even get a bargain at .08 cents on the pound. :yesnod:

Gotta admit, that was some funny shi) .   :icon_smile_big:

MorePwr, cool project.  I don't tell a lot of folks this but my first car was a '70 Camaro with a /6 and manual floor shift three speed.  A bodacious blonde, who I bought it from, taught me how to drive a three pedal car.  I still kinda like that model, would have to be a Z28.
One thing about it, you won't spend a fortune like we do w/ our Mopes.  4 bolt 350 for $100?  :o

69Chrgr

Don't really know where your from, but from the pic's, you guys also look really fashionable :2thumbs: I'm really diggin that "I don't need to take a shower or bath till it gets warm enough" look. Nice hair cuts too.

As for parts on your Camaro, I'm sure you probably won't have to look much further than your local Walmart. If Walmart doesn't have it, then I'm sure AutoZone will take care of everything else. They've got everything that Camaro should need. It ought to look sweet in front of that awesome garage you got there. Good luck on that awesome Camaro, those things sure are rare.

dads_69

Well I'm glad people aren't ripping you up here like I thought they would be. I had a '71 and '73 myself a while back. Last car was red w/black stripes, small block auto. Bought it for $200.00. Its completely restored now since I sold it. Fun cars and you can buy anything for them brand new which is cool from body parts to int. stuff. I didn't realize Wal-Mart sells Camaro parts though like stated in a thread above me!? Good luck w/it and keep us updated.  :2thumbs:

Edit: Walmart, I get it now, hes a dumbass Texan.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

69Chrgr, your comments are such a joke. I'm above you. You can't even read between the lines. Lmao.

I love the way people dis Texas and Arkansas.
I've lived in Houston and Dallas and now in Northwest Arkansas. You might just be a little shocked at what it's like down here. There's not much snow around here and certainly no salt on the roads. It was right around 70 degress today and much warmer in Texas. And yes there are a lot of old cars around here. No snow or salt, remember.
In fact I found a real nice limelight 70 Roadrunner 383 4-speed car last week for 8 grand and a 68 Runner 383 auto bench seat car for 10 grand. Neither one had any rust whatsoever and both were very nice drivers.
What's great is how a lot of the young people around here still drive old musclecars. They don't hoard them away like people do in some parts of the world. They get them out and drive the crap out of them. I can drive around and show you where there are four 68, 69 and 70 Chargers sitting right now that could be bought. I won't tell anyone about them because I don't want them leaving the area.
Wal-Mart, whose headquarters are about an hour north of here, doesn't have much in the way of Camaro parts, but there's a whole hell of a lot of used parts around here.
Rust free at that.
I kind of like living down here in the south.  ;D

Must be the heat  :icon_smile_big:

I've noticed that the old people around here drive like bats out of hell. Must be a carryover from when there were a lot less people around.
In Texas, you had better speed up when you enter the city limits or you're going to get run over.
Anyway, I think we're all lucky to live in the greatest country on the planet.
