I have a 74 charger se 440 that has been sitting up for a while.  While trying to install the instrument panel, I have hit a roadblock.  There is a fusible link that come through the firewall next to the fuses.  I can't figure out where this wire goes.  There is a black and a red wire and I can't figure out where they go.  This is in addition to the black and red wires with the lamps.     HELP!!!!

12 gauge red and black wires with eyelet terminal goes to ammeter studs. Red wire stud is labeled on back of cluster

fuse link runs on forward lighting harness ( non taped on it ) between starter stud relay and red 12 gauge  wire ( same that run after bulklhead block to ammeter ).

anyway too mcuh wires around so if you can take pics will be great

There are 2 sets of red and black wires with eyelet connectors.  One set is switched (comes on when key is turned) and is taped with the light bulbs.  I'm assuming this is what connects to the back of the ammeter.  The other set of red and black wires is a little larger is diameter, comes through the firewall (not into the fuse box) and these wires are constantly hot.

ok. MAYBE the heavy ones are parallel wires running to the original ones. Something like somebody already did the upgrade to run higher output alt

the one you mean switched, really dunno what could it be and trust me when I say I KNOW 3RD GEN WIRING!!!!

sounds like a weird mod somehow.

pics of wires and area around would it be REALLY helpfull
