I bought a Just Suspension front sway bar for my 1973 Charger and can't figure out where the brackets mount, even with instructions. Does anyone have pictures of one mounted in there car?

Pictures, I had to fool around with the brightness and contrast so you could see how low the bar is.

Dude, I would not drive my car with a bar that low. I would be scared it would hit something. :o

bordin34

Pictures of how it is mounted. It mounts in the factory spots. The scratches are from me trying to fit it through the K-Frame cut-outs, but it didn't mount there.

Same here 73se, the bar seems REALLY low....the factory bar i have sits comfortably out of harms way through the K-Frame.

As of right now I can say that Just Suspension has ungood customer service. I wrote to them and it said that I would receive an answer within 24 hours and I haven't received an e-mail, this is the second time in 48 hours.

Yeah, those centre link bolts are way too long.  Put the bar through the K frame and try some shorter, same dia grade 8 bolts.  Is that a sleeve that goes over the bolt for the centre links?

The bar is too wide and oddly shaped to go through the K-Frame, that is why it scratched, from me trying so much. The bolt is a long bolt with a sleeve over it but only a couple inches of threads, so that limits me a little bit. Tomorrow I'm gonna break out the hacksaw, or sawsall for the sleeves, whatever is closer. I'm also going to spray bomb the bar to cover up the scratches a bit.

That bar does go through the K member as stated . Other than the obvious safety factor of being too low , there is a reason that Chrysler engineered them to go in a certain mounting position . You may encounter drivability issues . Try flipping the bar completely backwards and horseshoeing it in .

If you can fit this bar through the K-Frame I will give you a bumperette from my car. I found out why the customer service took longer than expected. Just Suspensions had to contact Addco about the problem and wait for Addco to respond.

It doesn't look any different than my factory bar . If I lived near you I would do it for you .

Im not far from bordin, if ya want i can take the trip and you can match it up with my factory bar.

bordin34

I have seen and have had a 74 with a factory bar so I don't think I need to look at more. Addco responded and said " Dan, The bar looks good except for the hangers....WOW ...I have never had that problem before....Just let me know what size bolts you need to correct that problem."

Does anyone have pictures of the factory bar going through the K-frame.  I will be adding a sway bar to my car as well.  Thanks.

Hey I put an ADDCO sway bar in my 74 last spring and it had the same WAY to long bolts and sleeves I just got new bolts and cut down the sleeves. There was no problem with installing the bar but everything was torn apart(no fenders valance etc.) This is the best shot I have.

bordin34

So it does go through the K-frame. I e-mailed addco when I found out about this, then my e-mails got lost in their system when they were going to send the bolts. I e-mailed them yesterday and today they said they will overnight me the length I needed which I said was about 6 1/2". Hopefully they arrive tomorrow and I can cut down the sleeves and put it in this weekend.

So Addco shipped the bar with incorrect hardware?
Under construction 1973 Charger SE/RT resto-mod.

bordin34

Yes and No, they ship every bar for 73/74 Chargers with incorrect hardware. I think they believe it is correct but it is not. So everybody that buys this sway bar needs to buy some shorter bolts. I finally got my shorter bolts this week from Addco. I measured that about 5 3/4" would be good so I asked for 6 1/2" bolts. I think they are still too long but I should be able to add washers and stuff to take out the slack.

bordin34

No need to do that, I have the top half of the stock brackets that go to the k-frame which I measured from then added 3/4 inch or so.
