Well, we got the engine all painted and back together and got the transmission hooked up to it this morning.  Trailered the engine and tranny to the shop and began the project of putting it back into the 68 Charger.  Getting it back into the car went much quicker than we thought.  It only took us about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish getting the exhaust manifolds, motor mounts, new spark plugs, etc., etc. hooked up and putting the engine and transmission back into the car and all bolted down.  We plan to hook up the power steering pump, alternator, water pump, radiator, etc. tomorrow, get the fluids in it and see if we can getting running.  If so, we should have it snugly tucked back into the garage at home by Thursday.

A couple of more - including my son, Eric torquing the motor mounts.

Is that White or Y3 Yellow?  Either way, looks nice.  Of course, I am partial to big blocks backed by 4 spds. :icon_smile_wink:

It's SS1 for 1968 - Y3 for 1969; same color.  The light and angle makes the color look lighter.  Have attached a better picture of the true color.

Wow, looks great.  I hope to be doing the same thing in a week or two.  But I don't have a 4 spd to.  :'(
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

We started hooking everything up tonight beginning about 6:30pm.  Had everything done by 10:00pm and tried to fire it up.  Was starving for fuel, so we primed the 4-BBL with some gas.  Saw the gas starting to pump through the filter and it finally took off.  With new spark plugs, fluids and new motor mounts, it seemed like a different car.  The engine ran solid - didn't move at all - helps to have motor mounts that aren't wasted.  We will load it up and bring it home on Friday.  Will then finish the body work and put the paint on the exterior - pictures to follow on Friday.

The Carl and Eric team way to go, looks like he used the good rear trans seal, there is a cheaper shorter
one that most people seam to use, but I like that long original style. Carl did Eric ever put that buddy seat
in that car? I can't remember right now if the brackets were still in that car.

You will have to tell me how the trans works and feels after having it done, should be great now.

Tan Top - you are right - SS1 for 1968 and Y2 for 1969 are the same color.  I was typing around 12:00 am and didn't have a chance to verify the Y3 color.

Dan,
We still have the buddy seat you gave us.  I don't know if we have the floor brackets for it.  I was going to ask Eric today.  It just so happens I was looking at the Parts For Sale section and a guy had the floor brackets for sale.  If we don't have them, I hope he still has them available.  We have been focused mostly on the body right now and will do the interior later - so the buddy seat is in the back seat waiting to be installed.  The interior needs new seat covers, etc. - so we were going to do it all together after we get the exterior painted.

Will let you know how the tranny is working when we get it home and can run it up and down the street a couple of times.
