the torqueflite that came with my 383 has a drum looking thingamajig at the the end of it.
its a short tail shaft. it came out of a truck.
what is it? :shruggy:

It could be a parking brake but if it came out of a truck, there's a good chance it's an overdrive unit that came in some trucks and was known as a "compounder".

You have a 727 out of a motorhome, that is the parking brake.

a buddy of mine could use a parking/emergency brake to mount on his car :D... he converted the rear brakes to disc, but wasn't able to fit the emergency brakes anymore.

ok i just used my phone for the pic.
are the casting numbers on the side where the chain is or the other side?
its not on the floor, the only thing touching the floor is where it mounts to the x-member.

The part number will be stamped on the pan rail but from the pic I'd have to say it's the parking brake style not a compounder.
