Transmission Gearshift control lever question

Will a longer gearshift control lever help your shifter on a b-body console span farther to hit both Park and 1st gear. I can't seem to get the shifter to travel enough.

I'm being told by some that the lever bracket I have in mine might be too short causing me to not be able to hit both Park and 1st.

I seem to be able to get it in one or the other but not both. No matter how much I try screwing with the adjustable rod assemblies.

Can this Gearshift control lever length be the cause of my problem here?

The length of the shift lever will definitely affect gear selection, if the shifter travel is insufficient you need a shorter trans lever.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

The lever on the tranny itself is the one you need to change.
