I have a feeling that any real money invested in silencing a hooker is wasted. 

If there's no news story, I'll bet anyone could still find a way to buy the info by spending less than four digits.  And if the news story breaks, you're f*cked whether the ho had intended to stay quiet or not.   



I mean, what could you do?  If you paid a small amount for secrecy, then the info could still be bought pretty easily.  And even if you did impress upon them the importance of the issue and you were prepared to pay a large amount for silence, then they'd probably realize the barrel they have you over and start blackmailing you.

Maybe. I'm not making excuses for the cheating bastard, just trying to determine his or anyone's motives for this sort of activity. Maybe if he'd have spent $80k on his wife it would have brought more of the "freaky-freaky" out of her instead. Either way it would have been a better investment I think, especially considering his current situation.
