I have disassembled my 4401 carter carb in order to install a new kit.  I have what appears to be a piece that looks similar to he two needles that regulate the fuel entering the carb (via the floats).  It is a single piece that is all brass and about half the size of the others and there is no place on the flat side of it to mount any kind of support wire like the others.  I did not see where this came from and I was very careful when disassembling so I'm thinking it fell out of a hole as I was washing the carb.

Does anyone know where this piece goes?  Would it be from under the jet for the accel pump unit?  Is there supposed to be a spring with it?

** Updated**
I found some documentation that indicates that there is a needle below the accel pump jets.  Now I have another question, I can't remember what sides the main jets over the primaries go on.  They are numbered 49 and 50 and one appears to have a small metal tab on it.  I read after that these need to be installed on the correct sides.

Thanks

I have a 69 383 AVS carb and it sounds like the single brass piece you are talking about is the accelerator pump check valve the goes in the accelerator pump circuit, the pointed part points down and I am pretty sure there is no spring that goes with it.

I don't know why one of the jets would have a metal tab on it.  The larger jets go towards the front of the carb in an AVS.

Thanks for your reply.  I'm not familiar with the exact names, what I am referring to is the two units that mount on the top side of the front venturies.  They look like the primary feed for the fuel.  They have kind of a thicker ring with the injector on the inside.  One of these has a metal tab on the outside of the ring.  I can't recall the side each of these go on.  They look the same aside from the metal tab.??

THanks

Are you maybe talking about the booster venturis?   Do you need an exploded view of an AVS?

I found that there is only one way to install these units as there is are small tubes that inserts into the top casting, they have a small rubber seal on them.  Would you be able to post a closeup picture of the left side of the 4401 carb looking from the front of the car?  I'm wondering about a washer that I might be missing.

Thanks
