Have you seen any Charger without the plastic trim on taillight section?

The body shop that is working on my charger asked me if I wanted to consider leaving off the plastic black piece on the rear and just install the taillights.  I am making an RT clone from my Charger 500 so that is another consideration since the plastic piece says "Charger 500"

Anyone seen this done before?  Any pictures?

Isn't that how the base Charger came in 1970?
