Hey Guys, I just finished restoring a 69 Charger R/T with a #'s 440, a friend helped me with the engine about a year ago and then it sat in my garage on an engine stand till body work was done. Well I just got it all put back together and started the car and I am getting a nasty clanking type sound in the front of the motor as well as a huge oil leak. I thought perhaps it was the power steering or alternator making the noise and the fan was blowing oil all over, so I removed the belts and saw the oil coming out around the little dowel pin that helps line up the timing cover on the lower front right side of engine but the clanking still remained? So instead of fighting the timing cover leak while in the car, I'm wondering if I need to pull the engine and get it looked at and possibly rebuilt? This sucks as I have spent a lot of time and $$$$$ and am now very depressed :rotz: and angry  :RantExplode: and feel as though I am  :brickwall:. My nice newly powder coated K member has got more oil on it than Saudi Arabia!!!!! When the engine was out I replaced the oil pump, pulled the oil pan and looked over all the bearings, torqued all the caps, replaced the timing chain and gears, got a new valley pan and gasket set and resealed everything up good (or so I thought). Any ideas   :shruggy:, one other thing of consequence is it took me a long time to get it started and lots of gas went in the oil, you think possibly the viscosity of the oil is so low that the clanking is a result of that? I 'spose it would be cheap to change the oil and then see if it still clanks although I'd rather not throw away any extra cash as my reserves are already low.......Boo Hoo Hooo :'(
