Played with it a bit in photoshop, deff looks like an "H". Also asked some people who know nothing about cars (unbiased answers) to tell me what letter that is, all have said "H".

Ok, dad just got home and here is the fender tag true codes according to what the dealership told him.

J46  N95  P37  R11  V6X  EN2
V3X  U    C16  C55  G15  J45
GY3 H6X9 000 824  022764
E61  D32  JH27 L1B 104731

Guess the H was really a U after all.  Ha ha.

So the only thing that we were off on was the U and the P17 that really is a P37.

Now what is the code P37???

Time to hit the web....

Oops, just saw the original break down which was the power convert roof. :smash:

Thanks everyone.  It is not our car yet.  The car is looking to be purchased by my parents for my mom.  Dad has the el camino, I have the Charger, and mom's first car was a 70 Chally hard top.  She now wants a convert.  That H is definetly an H, not a U.  When we were trying to decode it, I copied it to the Paint program and inverted the colors and it stood out as an H there.  The engine is not a numbers matching engine and it currently has a 4 bbl carb on it.  The car has had a ground up resto about 5 years ago according to the dealership.

Was Citron Yellow the same as Sublime?  Only reason why I ask is that the dealership is calling it Sublime Green.

You got some really cool parents if dad's driving camino and mom is soon to be steering the chally :2thumbs:
Nice car btw

Well, dad put a deposit down on the car today after we had a person from the Moparts board check out the car for us.  I can not say enough nice things about Paul who checked out the car.  He knew his E-bodys well and checked all of the typical problem areas in which he found no serious problems.  There is a couple of issues that can be taken care of on an as need basis to enhance the appearance of the car but nothing that would require a ton of work.  Aside from the paint overspray where they did the door jambs and under the car, the body was in pretty good shape.  The prep work for the paint on the underside of the hood was peeling and so was the recessed areas of the trunk under the mat.  Again, nothing that cant be sanded and reshot quickly till we have the entire car repainted eventually.  The rear door panels will need to be replaced as someone put speakers in there and cut holes in it.  The dash has the typical crack by the speaker.  No leaks from the engine aside from the usual weapage from an engine running.  The chrome is in good driver conditiong which if and when we get the car painted in the years to come, would be redone anyway.  All in all, Paul really could not find nothing majorly wrong with the car.  Only downfalls is that the numbers match engine is long gone and the paint is the incorrect color right now.

Looks like one of our toys will have to be stored inside the trailer from now on till we can find me a house with a garage.  ha ha.

We were lucky enough to contact the previous owner who said not to walk away from this deal but to RUN hard and fast!  Said he bought the car and had nothing but problems with it and ended up returning it to the dealership where it is currently for sale.  Granted, we had someone physically check out the car and he gave it a thumbs up but from hearing the horror stories from the previous owner, we decided to let it pass as he also informed us on some other stuff with the car and dealership.  Needless to say, it sounds like that dealership is BAAAADD news.  So we are still on the look out for a decent driver quality 70 or 71 Chally convert that we can fix up for mom. :rotz:
