My stock 68 Dart GT has a /6 with an automatic tranny I think my dad said 908? maybe A 904 I'm not sure but is it worth rebuilding to handle like 300-400 horses? or should I just go for a 727?

I`m not sure there ever was a 727 for a slant 6 so you will have to use a 904 , if you are looking at a V8 conversion the slant 6 tranny will not bolt up

A SB 904 trans will take a good beating with a good amount of horsepower. I didnt hesistate on the fact if it could take it with my motor. Not that my motor is anything crazy. but my buddy runs a 904 in his high 10second barracuda and a 5000stall converter  :o Its a mopar...it will take some abuse

there was a few 6 cylinders that had 727's mostly taxi cabs and some lite trucks but they are rare.

if you go with a sb conversion just use a 904 it will take the punishment plus you don't have to worry about a drive shaft.

on a side note if it is going to be a street car i would leave the 6 cylinder k-frame in it and find a passenger side truck engine bracket and a regular car engine bracket for the driver side for the engine you are replacing the 6 cylinder with.

that way you don't have to spend alot of money on the engine swap kits because they are the samething as a truck mount on the passenger side and a regular car engine bracket on the drivers side

727 is tuff to beat, but finding one for a small block is tuff. I would also go with a 904 for that reason. If you happen to find a cheap 727 on the other hand. ;D

so what year mounts should I look for to do the SB swap? and do I need an adapter plate of some kind to use the 904 with the 318?

Chryco Psycho

the mounts would be used up to 72 in B bodys , 74 in E bodys & will be available from Schumakers if needed
I can`t remember what year was the last for the sandwich mount in th eA body , it was either 72 or 74
