I have a 72 Charger and want to remove the side mirrors for powder coating.  How do I remove the remote cable joystick from the door?  Hope someone can help me.  Thanks.

On my 69 the cable goes through the door and into the upper pad.  On the outside of the pad was a chrome ring with several slots in it.  I took a needle nose and grabbed two notches and turned it off counter clockwise.  Then just pull it out.  Of course that was my 69.  I got no idea about your year?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

After removing the trim ring and upper pad there is a flat rectangular washer that holds the lever assembly to the door. After removing that you can remove the two screws holding the mirror on and pull the whole assembly out. The remote mirror cable is held in place by two grommets, just squeeze the heads together on them and push them out of the two holes, mark the holes so you don't forget which ones they are.
