I am not sure if I have asked this already but will the Edelbrock RPM 440 intake fit under the stock hood of a 1970 Charger? I hope so as I have already ordered it.

I got one to fit with no problem on my '71 and I'd think it has less room than a '70. I think it will be fine.

I have a firend who has one on his 70 Charger R/T.  He had to use a drop base air cleaner and no hood pad.  Can't remember if it was 1.5" or 2".

you'll need a drop base to be sure...   the rpm is a tall duel plane...   it is almost as tall as the Victor single plane...

Well it looks like it will not clear. I have a TM7 intake on there right now and the difference between it and th RPM is .87 and I have a 1.5 drop base aircleaner.
I put a small block of clay on top of the air clearer and the hood squished it to .75.... :'(

So it looks like it will not fit and I will have to get a different intake.

I have an eddy rpm om my 69 charger and it fits the stock hood but you have to use a drop base air cleaner. Its very close to the hood but it does fit, I have a torque rod on my motor so the motor doesn't lift when I get on it so the air cleaner doesn't hit the hood. Alan

I have solid motor mounts...maybe I will take a gamble and find an air cleaner that may sit a little lower than my 1.5 and have it not interfere with the carb linkage or bracket.   :scratchchin:

I will be getting a performer RPM 440 intake manifold this week for my 68 charger. i asked the same question and everyone said it will fit as long as you have a 1-1/4'' drop base air filter so that is what i'm going with.

I have a 1.5 drop base air cleaner but it will not fit probably due to the dome shape type of lid that it has. I will post a pic of it.

Will the RPM fit with the wrinkle finish air cleaner with a drop base?  :shruggy:
I have the regular Performer on my '68, I've heard good things about the RPM & would love to swap.  :yesnod:

I doubt it will fit Bill....and the drop base puts your choke horn too close to the lid and restricts airflow.

Look for a Vintage CH4B edelbrock intake manifold....Chris has one on his 69 charger with the wrinckle aircleaner and can provide you with all the details.

The CH4B works fine with the stock throttle and kickdown linkages while the RPM needs a longer throttle cable, a taller throttle cable bracket and a kickdown cable setup to replace the stock linkage. With how yours is set up right now the CH4B is a much better way to go and won't create a lot of installation headaches. Performance will be allmost identical to the RPM.
