Ouch, sorry to hear about that man. On the good side, your OK and it looks like the only thing your going to have to do is remove some dents.

Sorry to see and hear about your building and your cars! Let me know if you need help with the clean up?

Ouch!!! A member showed pics after his storage tent collapsed on his Coronet and after that, we had a big snow storm here and I went up onto the roof and got rid of all the snow above the garage

Luckily these were not my restored cars. The guy I bought the house and property from loved wooded working. He had the orignal part of the building put up by contractors. This part is ok, SO FAR. He then wanted more storage room and made the rafters out of his own cut and planed 2x4s. He then made the lean to part out of the building out of these weak timbers. I was just in the building last weekend looking for a 68 radio bezel for a friend. While I was in there I could not see the rafters sagging. Every day after work for the last two weeks I have been trying to get off the roof.  Well now it came down quick.

Condition of the cars.

The front one is a 68 Charger and so far nothing too bad yet....

The charger in the back is a 69 and it has a very nice grill in it. As the roof was crackling and settling after it took its first crash, I was in there laying 4x4s across the front of the 69 and back of the 68 then layed some 3/4" plywood across it to keep things from shifting sliding into the grill. That is my major concern right now. I had to get my 69 GL and 68 Charger and my 2003 Hemi Ram out of the other part just in case. Sure is nice to have good friends. Got the GL in my house garage and my 68 I took to a friends house.

Well, it has just started raining again, and it is suppose to snow some more tonight.

Hopefully tomorrow I can check it out a little better.

man that sucks you should - invest in a roof rake -that's alot of snow for any roof to handle

The70RT

That sucks. Hope it all works out. Maybe your insurance will help you. It was 70 all weekend then it hit again except it came as rain before it got cold. It is 30 today  :-\

Winter does suck.  Sorry about your garage and the Chargers..I was out in my detached garage and everything is wet from mosture. Even my chrome wheels are rusting and they never see rain or salt.  I am leaning towards a furnace and keeping the termostat set at around 50 degrees.  Problem is my wife claims we can't afford another furnace to run.  :brickwall:

Thats great until the 3 feet of snow melts in a day and then you get a rainstorm on top of that. My basement went from dry to wet in about 20 minutes. :brickwall:

Well the roof fell the rest of the way last night after it got done raining. The roof on the 68 charger in the foreground of the pictures is toast.  Now that part of the pole building has a very nice sky light :D I am trying not to let this get me down too much. I have had some serious things happen to me in the last three months and I have been pretty depressed about those things.  Trying to let this one just roll off my shoulders

The rafters in that part of the building  have been built poorly. The thing is that we have not got snow like this in years here in Wisconsin. I could but wont say it is not my fault. After I bought the property I should have realized this and replaced them. Life lesson, right.  :shruggy:

You are absolutely right leeandgrant, let it roll off your shoulders, luckily  no one was hurt!  That looks to be about 20" of snow in the pics (I'm just guessing here) which should not pose a problem for anything built to  code in  your area, from what I see it is definitely a material quality problem.  A large portion of the lumber in your pics would never pass utility grade never mind #2 structural. It is unfortunate  that the previous owner had no clue of material quality or proper construction procedure for that matter.

Sorry to hear of your cars getting messed up like that, hope you get everything straightened out quickly. Winter SUCKS BIGTIME here in Detroit too. We had a ton of snow all melt in one day. I have had to sweep water out of  my garage several times this winter. I will have to clean and polish wheels and everything chrome or alumunum on the car [again] to prevent tarnish/rust from the dampness. It's snowing again right now. Mabey we should all try to get jobs at Mopar Muscle in Florida? Ray

I'm moving to Arizona; I had enough cold this year to last a life time.

Ah the sun.  :coolgleamA:
