     Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me how many 1969 Charger RT/SE sunroof cars they built? I have heard from someone on the site that they built approximately 29 of them but no one really knows for sure.Is this correct?

            Hey Magnumcharger,

I'll try and go to the storage facility that I have my car in and will get the measurments for you in a couple of days. I'm going to fire her up this week and get the juices flowing through her again after a long winter hibernation.

I have always been told that there were 29 RT/SE Sunroof Chargers built in 1969. Not sure where the number comes from, as I haven't seen nearly that many. But that is definately the number I was always told.

Personally I've only seen 5 of them in person.

moparmark

That's what I've been told as well but there no real documented numbers about that.  :brickwall:

             I wonder if Galen knows.

Hmmmm.....more people than myself want to know.....!!!

I got this on Moparts....
"I have a triple black '69 440 auto equipped sunroof Charger R/T SE. It's a real basket case, that I parted out and left for dead, but thanks to AMD coming out with all this awesome sheetmetal, the car is going to get a second chance at life!  It's a pretty rare piece.
It needs everything, and now I have to go buy all the parts I sold off the car again. I also have a friend that has a triple green 69 R/T SE sunroof car, and there is one other R/T SE sunroof car in my area also. All three are legit R/T SE sunroof cars, and all three are 440 automatic cars. The green one is an auto on the column with a buddy seat. I question the number of 29 that everyone says were built. I think there were more than that.
What are the odds that three of the 29 cars that were built are all within 5 miles of one another almost 40 years later!
I suppose it's possible, but what are the chances?"

Sorry, 391 charger sunroof cars, I have a list that says- 131 R/T's, 260 non R/T's, but no breakdown on R/T-S/E. Mine is the 361 of the sunroof cars, and it's an S/E.
Happiness is having a hole in your roof!

I have a buddy that bought a moon/sun-roof 69 RT/SE back in High school in 83-84 & he proceeded to tub the car. Yes I know what you're all thinking but 83-84 the hobby was "around", but the low numbers & high collectibility wasnt there just yet & by this I mean you could grab a 69 Charger then with a 383 or 440 in fair shape for 800.00
The fact we should try & preserve the stock beauty of such a rare car wasn't even thought of then. In fact he bought this car for 1500.00 after numerous people passed on it due to the fact it was in pretty bad shape rust wise. Believe it or not he still has this car & given what he did to it & the value it would bring he could go back to stock if he wanted or needed to. The guy is 40 now & works so much he has little time for the car but EVERY time I see him I ask "when are ya gonna sell me that charger". He laughs & says NA I'll never sell it.
I will try & get pix of the car one day. Heck I have not seen it since the 80's myself but saw him last weekend. You guessed it the answer was Na.

moparmark

OK, so there are 10 RT/SE sunroof cars registered on the site including mine.So far I have seen three RT/SE sunroof cars on Ebay which I have written down their serial numbers and they are at best in total rebuild condition. One was a F6 exterior and F8 interior car with a buddy seat. The other was I believe a Y2 car with luggage rack.Chris, do you know if these cars are registered or not? I will look tonight to see what the third car was as well.
Would Galen have any information on the number produced? We know that out of the 391 sunroof cars that 131 were R/T's.How many of the 131 were RT/SE's?

Magumcharger: I will be taking measurments this weekend and will post them here.

Just saw the F6 green one a couple of weeks ago. Saw a B5 blue one at the Mopar Nationals about 6 years ago. Saw an R4 red one at the Mopar Nationals probably 8 years ago. I still think that the figure of 29 is if not correct, probably pretty darn close.

Does any one have a picture of the black 1969 charger sunroof car? I just added a factory sunroof to my car last weekend.

69charger2002

i knew of a black one in new orleans flooded in katrina. it was completely loaded out, power everything, R/T SE sunroof. had the original block, it was a project car. it turned up on ebay twice after i could have bought it.. maybe that is the X9 car chris has in the registry. i want to say i emailed him the info. if that is the car, pics won't do you any good, as it wasn't too pretty

I was thinking that the black RT/SE sunroof car was owned by one of the Dayclona buddies. I'm pretty sure it is Pete's car.

This is the black RT/SE that I think Travis was referring to from eBay....its the only black sunroof car I have at the moment.  This car had no tag or BS

that is the one. tranny was MIA. block was numbers matching, but it was just that. bare block. sunroof lid was washed away in the storm. shame too, the gauges had a tach, AM/FM 8 track, but it was all corroded from the salt water. the car had disc brakes, 6 way seat, SE, cruise.. triple black. i was blown away at the options on the car. had to be an exec car or a famous person who ordered it. i bet it stickered at $5500

          Hey Chris,

Yeah,I still have my sunroof car.I just posted it on Ebay to see what would happen.Lots of phone calls and even more e-mails.No way I would get rid of that car unless a really sweet 69 Hemi charger came up for grabs. If I was serious about selling it I already told you that I would give you first chance at it.

The 69 sunroof panel is the identical one in 71-72 Plymouths.. Mark, those are awesome cars. Rarer than Hemi cars in most models.. Maybe I'm biased..   :hah:

Here's the one I just installed in my charger. Still have alot of body work left. Some people might think I'm crazy by doing this, but hey they make new roof skins so no big deal. Plus it'll be a car that I'm  going to want to keep forever. There's two sunroof cars up my way and they wont sell them so you have to do what you need to do.

.45-70

Sorry to dredge up old posts, but I'm new here and a bit curious.

Does anyone here have any knowledge of a '69 RT/SE sunroof car that sold out of Belmont, CA around 1983/84??  It was a light yellow with a tan interior.  The motor had some problem and it hadn't run in quite some time.  The guy that owned it never made it home from Vietnam and his folks had it parked in their yard and didn't want to sell it.  I went passed this car daily and finally one day I see a sign on it for $600.  I stop and they say "it just sold" (go figure).  Always wondered what happened to that car because I never saw it in the area again.  Anyone got any info about it?

tripleblkr/t

I remember one that was for sale in CA that was yellow with green interior.  It had power window as well.

.45-70

I don't know the color code, but this one was a light yellow or cream color with a tan interior.  It was optioned with the power windows too.  Man, it's been too many years now, but that was the car that got me interested in Chargers.  I've always wondered what became of it.  I know that the sunroof was a relatively rare option. I sure hope that someone good ended up with it.

Thinking about relatively rare cars, there was another guy in town that had a triple black '69 with a slant six in it.  Not what you would really want in a car the size of a Charger, but a really rare car I'm sure.

Just 6T9 CHGR

So far I have 2 Y2 yellow sunroof cars....one has black interior & the other green.

I have one Y3 cream with a black interior as well...

None in those colors with a tan interior as of yet.
