I hope this is the best place to post this!

I came across a local guy that would like $200 for a set of Super Comp Headers http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker/520/5209/10002/-1/744807|10605

these headers are the painted (now has some surface rust) 2" primaries and 3.5" collector. I know my fairly stock 440 does not need anything this size, but it will be better than stock manifolds (non-HP), not to mention I will "one day" go for a complete performance engine.

Is $200 worth it for a set of headers the were sopposably only used for break in and 6 passes, showing a little rust?

Second he has a 72 Air Grabber hood! What is the going price for one? he said it is not rusted or dented, but I have yet to see it.

Any infor mation would be great he is to call me back latter tonight when he has time to go back out to his race shop.

I don't know about the headers, but I believe the going price for the hood is still around $2500 to $3000 complete. The Air Grabber hoods are for Plymouths and the Ramcharger hoods are for Dodge. I think most of the parts interchange except for the scoop itself. Something to consider if it is indeed an Air Grabber hood and you don't have a Plymouth for it to go on.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

I have dealed with him before, and he is a big Charger fan. The Hood is from a 72 charger; it has the small solid section at the rear of the hood, he is looking for the 71 style to go with his Supper Bee (the slots go all the way across, no "solid section"). I believe that he wants to only part with the hood, and I will still have to find the rest of the assembly. During my last transaction with him about a year ago I overheard him talking to another guy, and I believe he asked for $700 for the hood. I have not been able to price the rest of the parts, nor do I know if all of them are being reproduced yet, so I have no idea how to price just the hood. I don't want to get ripped off nor "offend" him if he asks me to make an offer. I just don't know the going price. Also if anyone knows the cost of the rest of the assembly please let me know where to get it and how much.

Ian, 700 $ is a steal for the airgrabber hood! however, everthing else you need with soon add up big time $$ if you dont need it, you could always buy, then sell (flip) the hood and make some easy $  :Twocents:

I have seen those hoods go $3500+

Better grab it while you can.

Of course, you could just tell him to get in touch with me, since I have a 71 ramcharger hood with the vents all the way across, totally restored in primer ready for paint, and I need a 72 style hood for my 1972 N96 440 Rallye. I would swap even and pay for shipping my hood to him.

Phillip,

You may get a 72 hood out of this deal! If my deal for the ram air hood falls through I will pass your information to him. I have no problem doing that, I just will take the first shot at it. If I do get the hood, and each of ours are in acceptable shape (I have not seen the 72 hood yet), I have no problem swapping hoods with you, as long as it does not cost me much. From your post it sounds like you may be willing to pay for all of the shipping. If so it sounds like a win-win situation to me, the gap or no gap does not mean a thing to me. Plus 71 chargers are my favorite, I will one day own one or just turn my 318 72 into an 71 R/T clone one day.

I will give you a call in a bit, so we can talk a bit more about this possible deal.

PG Classics makes a lot of air grabber parts, & BE/A on this forum sells them.

Here's an example of the parts for the bare hood as a kit.

Not cheap, but still cheaper than a used one with old parts that may need to be redone.
