Does anybody know the Timken ( or whatever brand ) PN for the RV2 compresor pulley bearing. Yesterday I turned on the engine and suddenlly the compressor began the tipicall bearing noise. I want to take appart that piece already having the replacement in hand

I looked up the Mopar P/N in my parts book and it was a 2019681.  There is also a gas seal package 1426501.  Neither appear to be good numbers anymore.  You could probably take the bearing out and go down and get a bearing place to measure it with a micrometer and see if they have one to replace it.  But if you are going to take this thing apart you would want to replace the seals too.  Might be better to seek out a rebuilt unit.  I think they are available.  That way, you would get one with all new bearings, seals, etc.  I don't know if people like Classic Air rebuild these or not.

I have the catalog ( april 74 ) too and same PNs, however thats the compressor crank bearing and seal package for same aplication, and I'm asking about the pulley bearing. The crank bearing only works when clutch is activated, and I'm having bearing noise with compressor off

the pulley bearing is PN 1769318 on Catalog. I don't think will find the bearing with that Chrysler PN anymore

The part number for the pulley ball bearing in the Nachi brand is 308GS1-2NSL, might be the same number in some other brands.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Nacho,

did you end up replacing the bearing in the compressor pulley ?

I have replaced the crank bearing abd thought that the pulley bearing was fine.....till I fired it up. Looks like the bearing in that is stuffed too, but I'm not sure how to replace it. Do you simply remove the "snap-ring" and pull out the bearing ?

G'day Nacho,

well.....I ended up removing the pulley section and actually got the bearing out. Trouble is, in my efforts to do so I think I warped the front outer most plate (hope that makes sense). I tried to prize it off with screwdrivers, but in the end it siply required punching the plate center out with a hammer and socket. I also removed the bearing, but i am a little concerned that i damaged that plate.

If the clutch plate is bent it will be obvious once it's installed, there should be an even gap between the plate and the pulley all around.

Will it matter if it is slightly bent, or will it throw out the balance when the A/C is turned on ?

If it's not bent too much it won't matter because the plate is magnetically pulled against the pulley, if it make full contact when engaged it is OK.

The problem with a bent plate arises when the clutch is released, the running clearance is only about .020"-.030" so if it's bent that much it will drag against the pulley and might even throw sparks.

Thanks for replying.

I had a good look at the plate this morning and the biggest problem i can see is not so much warping of the actualy clutch plate itself, but rather the outer metal plate seems to have come away. Check out the picture.

It's still secured to the whole thing, but the outer studs appear to be not cennecting. To be honest, I'm not even certain they are secured to the plate, but just sit flat on it. If you can help it's really appreciated.
