We had the move in today for the Autorama show in Salt Lake City.  Mopars of Utah was given an invitation for 12 cars.  Took a few pictures of the ongoing set up.  Still have another 1970 Charger coming into the show - wasn't there, yet.  A couple of pictures of our 1969.  Will post more pictures as the weekend progresses.

For you 1970 guys - a few pictues of a 1970 R/T, 440, 6 pack, 4-speed - notice the original sticker price :o  I talked to the guy for awhile.  He said he bought the car in 1975 from the original owner.  The original owner had bought if for his wife to drive, but she wanted a Corvette, instead.  So he sold it to the current owner.  Beautiful car!!

Carl,

Nice pictures and congrats on being asked to the show.

Is that Hemi Challenger Vert an original hemi car? I noticed it doesn't have the power brake booster.

The other thing that amazes me is that those big dollar restorations, which all look correct under the hood and then they have a NAPA battery instead of a correct looking restoration battery, what's another $250?.

Very nice cars though and lots of green  :2thumbs:

Looks like you are still having lots of Mopar fun!

Mark,

I don't know too much about the hemi Challenger.  I can ask the owner when I see him.  I'm relatively new to the club and don't know all of the members.  We get together once a month at a meeting and of course not everyone can make it.  So, I'll make a point to ID the owner and get some detail on it.
As far as I know, most of the cars are drivers - not trailer queens - whether that plays into the fact that they don't have restoration correct batteries, I don't know.
But, we are having fun :icon_smile_cool:

I have talked to the guy with the Green 70 V code charger a few times.  Very nice guy. He also has a 67 GTX and a few other cars.   We were parked two cars down from him at peach days last year.  He has a friend that has a twin to the sublime car except it is top banana.  Can't remember their names.  If you know them. Will you PM me their names?  Also.  Your 69 looks great. Do you ever bring it to the cruise in in Logan?
I'm smarter than I act, But I don't act smarter than I am.

You have a PM.  We haven't been up to Logan for the show up there, yet.  Conflicts in the past.  However, we hope to get up there this year.  They are raffling off that 1968 triple black Charger this year.  Can't miss a chance at that.

your car looks great. what size are those tires/wheels?

OldGuy

Rear tires:  275-60R-15 on 15x8" rims

Front tires:  245-60R-14 on 14x7" rims

Rims are Cragar SS

Oldguy:  Nice pics of a great car show display. Your Charger is beautiful and I really like the old-school look of the Cragar SS wheels. I am thinking of putting them on my Charger and am wondering if you had any issues with the unilug design and the wheel staying true and balanced.

Thanks   Carl

Back N Black

Very nice Cars! I'm also a big fan of the Cragar SS wheels.  :2thumbs:

Also,  I just noticed the challenger convert.  I don't know much about the car but the drive train used to be in a 69 runner and then was transplanted into the challenger. The drive train was built and transferd over by Hawkers A1 auto in Logan UT.  The pullys and brackets on the engine came from me. They are off of one of my old dodge pickups.

Haven't had too much trouble with the Cragar's as far as bounce or feeling out of balance.  The trick is getting them seated properly.  They can be difficult putting on.  If you are using the unilug, be sure to use the optical/offset washers and mag style nuts with a long shank - see reference to picture below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cragar-SS-Mag-Wheel-Lug-Nuts-Lugs-Nut-with-Washers-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ33749QQihZ018QQitemZ280204953966#ebayphotohosting

The offset washer helps align and lock the nut into the proper position.

Speaking from experience (as you probably have, too), if you have someone who doesn't know anything about your Charger and they are trying to change the tire or put the tire on, be sure to tell them about the left handed threads.  I had a flat on the road and happened to be near a Big O Tire store before it completely bottomed out.  Took it in and of course they don't let you back in the service bay.  However, I stood outside the door and was watching the kid trying to get it off.  Finally I told him it was a left hand thread and to stop torquing on it.  He also had a hard time figuring how to set the washers to get it back on - anyway.

Interestly, I found the best buy on the lug nuts and washers at Les Schwab Tire.  They even have the left-hand threaded nuts.

Have you seen the 68 Charger they are raffling off?  They have it at the Autorama show.  The pic's below are about as good as I could get - will try for better ones tomorrow.   Took a close up look at it on Thursday during set up.  Very nice paint job.  Nice vinyl top and interior (seat covers and headliner).  However, no carpet, bucket seats without the buddy seat, dash is just a shell - no gauges, etc.  hopefully, they are going to finish it off.  They say it is a 440 - didn't get to lift the hood to verify.  Auto transmission.  Not a true R/T - XP dash VIN.  However, I do like the wheels.  Cragar SS with 15x10's on the rear and looks to be 15x7's on the front.  I certainly wouldn't turn it down if they gave it to me. :icon_smile_big:
ps
The attendant at the table asked me if I would like to win the car.  I told her sure - it would fit in nicely with my other three (3) Chargers. :D

Thanks for the info.  I would never let a tire shop put them on the car!  I have heard about the tricks to get them seated and seating them all before tightening and torqueing the wheels. Yes, mine still has the right hand/left hand lugs and I will always try to do it myself or supervise someone doing it at a tire shop if I ever have to do that!    Your wheel size/ tire size is just what I am looking to do for mine in the rear but, will probably go with a 15" rim in front.

When you say "if you are going with a unilug" it make me wonder if you can still get them with a specific spacing size as I thought they were all unilug now and have been for a long time. Do you know any different?

Carl

C_stripes

I have not looked at it. But I know a few guys that work on the CVCA and will see if I can get a peak at the car and take some good pics to post. My friend told me that it is a 440 but is not an HP. They claim it is built to HP specifics though. The car audio place (Stokes) that is doing the sound system.  They do very good work.I am shore it will not be stock but should look good. I was told it runs good.  I just hope its not like the Camaro RS convert they gave away a few years ago.  The car was shyt. Needed allot of work.  But it is still worth taking for tax only.  This is the first mopar they have gave away.  So are you living here in Utah?  There are allot of good mopar guys here.  Talk to you later.

I agree with you about doing it yourself with the Cragar's.  It has only happened one time (Big O) since I had the flat on the road with no spare.  When I bought the car, it had the 14" rims on the front - haven't bothered to go to the expense of moving up to 15".  However, I need new rims for my 1968 Charger we are working on and am definitely going with 15" rims all around.   Hauling two different sized spares around doesn't get it :rotz:
I'm not totally certain about the availability of specific spacing on the Cragar's.  The reason I mentioned it was my son works for a specialty wheel and tire store and he said he thought he had seen Cragar's with specific spacing.  You could probably go to their site and ask if they do.

Thanks, been to their site and sellers sights. They make a few of the sizes in a 5" only spacing for certain applications in the classic SS wheels but only list the  ones we would need in a 4 1/2, 4 3/4, 5" multi-spacing. In other words....unilug!  I think they would still be just fine and they look fantastic on Chargers!  Gonna give them some serious thought!

Thanks again and yours is really nice!          Carl

If that is the one I'm thinking of, it's a base model (XH) car, semi-cloned to an R/T.
Here's a shot of it from last year's Miller Mopar show.

The plain taillight panel, bench seat & lack of upper door pads are all base model stuff. Still a good looking car, though. :)

Here's a couple shots I got last year of the Cruise-In giveaway car. I'm definitely gonna be there this year for a chance at winning that baby too! :icon_smile_cool:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

On the challenger.  If it is the one I am 99% shore it is.  Its a clone.  I think that Autocare collision repair did the resto.  It may have been Wolfords though. I think that Wolfords are the ones that did the paint on the give away car as well.  I can find out.  I will see what info I can get on the challenger too.  I know the Hawkers pretty good. If any of you race up at firebird race way in Nampa ID you probably know their Challengers and the Stokes boys Dart GTS. I would say that the Hawkers are probably the best engine builders here in the local area.  The also have a 68 camaro SS drag car.

Anyway.  I'll see what I can find out about the Chally and the give away car.

Autorama ended this evening.  Didn't get there until around 5:00pm when they were handing out awards.  Awards ceremony went until 7:30pm and afterwards everyone was hot to get out of there - so, didn't get a chance to take anymore pics.  All the Mopars from the MOU club were given awards :2thumbs:
Maybe Charger Fan was able to take a few pics.

Yes, original paint is sliver - black vinyl top and black interior.  We are working on the 1968, 383 first to give my son experience for when he restores the R/T.
