I'm not sure whether this classifies as redneck engineering, completely nuts, or just damned GOOD, however...! :o

I don't think I wanna try it. :P

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I thinking that's not really an approved safety method of getting a backhoe onto a rail car.

Not that I've found so far, but I'd like to see that too. :yesnod:

Very cool. Looks like the rig was modified to accept angled steel runners on each side to sit securely on top of the rail car while it unloads the other. Not OSHA approved, of course, but it does look very stable going up and sitting down.  Damn good yankee ingenuity.  :2thumbs:

Looks like something that the construction companies I've worked for in the past would have done. Spent many hours in a back hoe, doing things crazy like that. I have yet to have one turn over on its side when doing something like that, but have often though I was getting pretty close.

But he is wearing a hard hat!

Looks like there's a cable holding it to the rail car while climbing........?

Holy crap, nice find! I find that whole concept completely astounding...that is just too cool. :coolgleamA:
I want to know how the conversation went when the guy who thought that up went..."hey, let's put that backhoe up there & we could be done unloading that thing in a half hour!" I have a feeling that's what first instigated mandatory drug testing in the workplace. :smilielol:

Well, I guess after watching that video it seems it is an approved method. :image_294343: Still looks crazy, and a lot of things have to work just right to avoid nasty face plants onto the ground when dismounting. I'd hate to be in one of those backhoes if the rail car pulls too far forward when I was trying to get down off it.

Im thinking a bridge with a bucket arm on it is just to easy?

They are putting a lot of trust in the hydraulics too. Blow a line and there would be some fun.  :o
