remanufactured torque converters - a good thing?

I recently had my 727 auto rebuilt at a local tranny shop and they said that the converter should also be replaced.  They had one on hand that is a remanufactured one built by DACCO.  Should I be worried about this piece?  My motor and tranny are rebuilt to stock specs.  I am a little concerned about the quality of converter; I don't want to just slap in a hunk of junk.

mostly of Mopar units being sold at Mopar dealers are in fact rebuilt

i am 99% sure that all convertors are remanufactured,at one place or another,no new ones built except by oem

When it comes to converters i prefer to buy quality and you do get what you pay for.  :yesnod:

PTC, Turbo Action, Dynamic are the names that come to mind when converter shopping.  ;)

When we had our 71 Buick GS convert.  We had a new Dacco torque converter installed to match the new engine specs.  The Dacco torque converter was the biggest piece of crap we ever bought for the car.  It was so bad that we took it out and put the stock one back in and only after that could we spin the tires up through second gear.

Like Ron said, go with a good name brand.

Thanks for the input, guys.  The thing was only 100 bucks, so that was my first tip that I should probably be looking for a different piece.  Not that I like to spend more $$, but you get what you pay for.

Torque converters are one of the places where that "get what you pay for" is especially true.
