i know my car was an early 69 build (1968) because of the lack of headrests. would anyone be able to tell me wear else to look other than the non existant data tag?

You know where I found great info?  The glass.  Also Chris our moderator could give you an idea by the vin #  He nailed my car real close.  He told me about Oct, Nov of 68 and my glass was dated for NOV 68.  I had a book that showed how to tell, but I through it out, but you could try a search?  There are a lot of tip offs, like the chrome auto shift knob was on the earlier 69's and many other clues.  The fender tag has the month right on it.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

It all depends on how origional the car is. The only definative place to see a Scheduled production date is the fender tag, or the broadcast sheets however. If the car is "untouched/origional" though you can get a ball park idea from the various date codes on the multiple items on the car.

I would guess that with a VIN of 123xxx that your scheduled production date would be somewhere around the first or September of 1968. By the 7th of September the VINs were already in the 138xxx range, and on August 21st they were in the 110xxx range. Chris with the 69 charger registry could probably give you a definative date though by comparing it to other cars with a closer VIN.

Mike, like others have stated you cant tell the SPD without either the fender tag or the broadcast sheet.

I can, however, tell you that your car was most likely built on 9/2/68 going by your VIN #
I have several cars all within a few digits of yours all built on 9/2/68

Hope it helps

thanks. i figured it was early. the original engine and trans are way long gone, there is no broadcast sheet either. i got the car in 86. my buddy an i split the cost of $500. he swapped the OK interior from his show car for the mint one my car came with. so for $250 for a 15 year old, that was a sweet deal.

i guess now i know what to have the guy stamp on my new data tag.

Bob, by your VIN #, the St. Louis plant was already a week or so ahead of the Hamtramck plant in production dates

The Hamtramck guys must have spent too much time in the bars.  :smilielol:  :smilielol:

Well if that is the case then we know for sure who spent the most time in the bars come the second half of the production year.
