I'm curious too. It kind of reminds me of the place on the Wisconsin/Illinois state line on I-94 at Russel Road. Only thing I don't see, are the retired military and Coast Guard helicopters in the back ground.

There is also a place that sell old military equipment north of me 30 miles in Oshkosh on hwy 41.

I restored an M37 about 8 years ago and drove it around town quite a bit. fun to drive, a PITA to parallel park. Main problem...the gearing wont let you go fast than about 48 MPH so its sorta impossible to drive it on the freeway. Super easy to work on, the whole thing uses basically 3 fastener sizes and is engineered so just about the dumbest person in the world can repair it. Parts are cheap and plentiful. weighs about 6400 lbs...6 banger. M37's are great. most of them had 2nd lives as farm or parks dept trucks so usually they are pretty rough. Usually 2nd gear start is the norm, 1st gear you can go straight up a wall at 2 mph or so.

EXCELLENT for offroad..I ended up selling mine to a retired military guy who know uses it on his farm.

M-37 are cool, but I prefer the M-880. The 880 truck is rated a 1 1/4 ton and can travel 70 MPH and parts are more plenty-full than the M-37.

694spdRT

I was looking for an older truck and decided to buy a heavy 3/4 ton over a 880.  The 880's are basically a stripped down standard 3/4 ton Dodge truck chassis with a Dana 44/Dana 60 axle combo, full time 203 transfer case, and 318 power.  I don't know where the 5/4 ton rating comes from but I don't see it.  :ahum: The one good thing is that they usually are in fairly decent shape body wise compared to most of the old civilian trucks and have lower miles.

The rust free '76 Dodge W250 Adventurer club cab I bought has a factory Dana 60 front and Dana 60 rear, 400 bid block, big radiator, and a much heavier frame. It even has one of them factory CB radio setups in it.  :2thumbs:

69 4 speed,  Cool Find. Did you buy that one off e-bay that only sold for $850.00 ??  I wanted that truck but it was on the east coast and would have cost another 1500 to ship.  70's style 3/4 ton 4x4's are rare.  90 percent of them were 2x4's.

No I didn't see that one on Ebay. I bought mine locally a year ago after looking for a couple months. One big reason I bought it was the hydraulic dump bed the previous owner added. I needed a wood hauler and this is the perfect heavy duty truck for that.  :yesnod:

Current bid ? Where is the auction site ? E-Bay ?

Tilar

Right Here

It's government surplus. I've bought 7 vehicles from them in the last year. This is the site where they were selling all of the FEMA trailers like was used during Katrina.

The mileage listed are probably actual mileage. If they have been rolled over, they have a message saying that the mileage exceeds mechanical limits.

Thanks for that link. There are a few listed close to me that would be easy to pick up cheap, repair, and sell to make a profit. Then use that money to find me another Charger. :yesnod:

When I started buying them it was more just for something to do. Then I decided to start saving up and finish my Charger that I started on close to 20 years ago... But be carefull cause it gets addicting and as it stands right now, If could sell everything I have to sell at close to average retail price, I could buy a fairly decent Charger.

You have to kind of take their descriptions with a grain of salt. Most of them will say that they need some mechanical or electrical work. I bought a really nice 2000 Buick Regal about 6 months ago. The ad said that the vehicle needed to be towed from the lot because it wouldnt go under it's own power. The same department had probably 6 other cars/trucks and they all said they needed to be towed. I called them and asked what the problem was with the Regal and the lady told me that the battery was dead.  :shruggy: I bought it and it is loaded. It was a DEA car.

ACUDANUT

That M-880 only sold for 700 bucks ? That's a hell of a deal.  My Rust Bucket 880 cost me double that. Thanks for the link.  I wish I could find deals like that around the Kansas City Area.  Did anyone see the Humvee for only 115,000. Wow what a deal..NOT.. Is that guy crazy ?? :smilielol:

Tilar

Well, Since i've already given up one source, Here is one that will have items in your Kansas City area.  :icon_smile_wink:

Well, you could always do what I used to do... Once I have the item(s), I'd take it in (or take her outside depending on the size) and say "Guess what we just bought!!!"  :icon_smile_big:
