Hello all. Just got my 440 rebuilt by a friend of a friend.  He's been building motors for 17 years so I trust him but not sure about his expertise in mopar engines.  I started with a '69 BB with stock heads, steel crankshaft and an Holly street dominator intake. I told him I wanted a streetable engine with maybe 400 -450 HP.

MY question is does this look ok if I just want to drive fast on the street but not race?  Or should I have something changed up?  Any opinions appreciated.

Here's the list he gave me of the work done on my engine (all for $1100):

-Block bored .030" to make total size 447
-Reconditioned Connecting Rods with new bolts
-Reconditioned crank. Polished and turned .010' undersized
-New TRW Tri-Metal bearings
-New TRW Pistons with New Rings. Approximately 9.8:1 compression
_New Performance Hydraulic Lifter Camshaft:
.480" lift
.275" duration
-New Hydraulic Lifters
-New Performance Timing chain
-New Freeze plugs
-New Melling high volume oil pump
-New Gaskets
-New Valve seals
-New Valve job on cylinder heads
-New Valve springs on heads
-New retainers and locks on heads

$1100.   That seems pretty cheap.  :shruggy:  I'm not the expert here but I would guess  390 HP.  :scratchchin: :shruggy:

That is a pretty well matched combination for the street. Make sure you run a higher stall speed converter[around 3200] and a descent set of gears. 3.55 or 3.91 for the street. Get small tube headers [big tubes will kill torque] a good 3" exhaust system with X-pipe or crossover and Flowmasters or similar mufflers. I f you want more power later port the heads or get Edelbrocks. Don't forget frame connectors. Have fun! Ray

looks like a  rebiult stockish 440 with a little bit of cam,  you wont need alot of converter

Thanks for the opinions guys.  At least it gives me an idea of where the engine is at.  $1100 was a "friends" price so I couldnt be too demanding on how I wanted it done.  Maybe later I will get the heads ported and get a bigger cam.

This engine is not quite done yet and I'm going to be getting some more help finishing it off.

Anyway, thanks again.

Rob.

If its not all together you might want to spring for a good balance job.
