No fuel supply

[Belgium R/T -68]

After rebuilding my 340 engine I get 80 psi oilpressure but no fuel from the pump by cranking.
Is it possible to mount the fuelpump wrong on the 340? It's my first smallblock job, any suggestions would be helpful.

Assuming that you have fuel in the tank, the lines are not clogged, it is definately a good pump, you didn't force the pump into position and you have the lines connected correctly to the pump, in-in, out-out, did you remember to install the fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam gear when you assembled the motor because without it the pump is never going to work. I did see one guy manage to get the fuel pump arm OVER the eccentric, don't ask because I still don't know how the hell he did it, but he did. Check all of the above and you should fine something to be wrong, good luck.

Good advice.   If the pump won't prime there could also be an air leak somewhere....check all your hose connections and make sure none of the rubber lines are collapsing when you're trying to start the engine.

Thanks, will fill up the carb after checking above and see if the higher RPM would give some fuel from the pump.

Problem solved, used the newly purchased vacuumpump to pump from the carbside of the fuelhose. After that the pump does his job.
Now the the problem is the valvelash, evidently I have been doing that the wrong way.
