Is it just me, or does Richard Petty's Superbird in the slide show look an awful lot like a Charger Daytona?

I think the hood looks like a Charger - and then there are the grooves on the door. You can sort of make them out, but that may be a visual trick with a decal.

I say it is a Charger Daytona.

Well I have not watched a race in a year.  sadly it is just too much of a dog and pony show.  My brother wanted me to come to his how to watch the Daytona, not going dont care to sit a watch it,  I would rather watch some paint dry.....

yeah Petty is driving a daytona in that shot, you can tell by the grill, it's not his car BTW. maybe one of the wing car GURUs can tell us about it,,,
should they ever venture out of the areocar section...
    which isn't very likely...

That car was purchased and redone as Petty's car (Solid blue 43s etc...) by GOODY'S back in the early 90s.  The car was actually one of Dave Marcis' Light blue #30 cars.
The car was repainted in the red and white Winston colors for their last year as series sponsor. Kenseth was the the LAST Winston cup champion. (The yellow #17 car behind the King)

It raced in Nascar AND Usac. It also escaped its raciung career AMAZINGLY intact, the worst that happened to it was a spin at Riverside, which can be seen in some vintage videos. Like the old Ramo Stott Superbird, it led a charmed racing life. But then the Winged wonders were really raced on a more limited basis than the other cars.

AND YEAH it's a Daytona

And I don't even OWN a winged car, unless you count my 73 Charger, it has a go wing!   :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:
