You never know what you will find. I remember 7 years ago I was passing through upstate New York when a friend I kept in touch with calls me about a drum set for sale at an estate auction. I meet up with him so he can show me where it is. So this auction is in a very redneck part of upstate New York. many may find it hard to believe they exist, but they do. The auction was at a house and I find out this old gearhead died and his family was liquidating everything on the spot. There were lots of 60's 440's, complete selling for $1 each. I had no way of getting them home as I was in a car and 10 hours from home. There were several 1968 and 1969 GTX/Roadrunner B bodies there, but none for sale. They unloaded all the engines, transmissions, boxes of tools, oil, etc for dirt.

I did get the drum set. It was an old Ludwid in black oyster pearl with matching snare for a whopping $45.

I had the same thing happen to me...
A friend of mine calls me up and says hey my brother in law says that his church has an old "Cuda that they want to get rid of, I ask him why he said 'Cuda and not Barracuda and he says thats what he said the emblems read on the car so now I'm pumped and ask him why does the church have this car, etc...
Long story short, after several days of dreaming about this "Cuda I go down there and sure enough the church has this car and they need to sell it, the guy opens the garage door and there sits a old faded 66 or 67 Barracuda :-\
I was so pumped up from my visions of a AAR or a triple black shaker 440 that it might as well have been a 78 Pinto, I walked away bummed.

Hell, I'd have jumped on it anyway.  I love those A body Barracudas.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Just exactly what kind of cars are you in the market for currently runninghorn? Seems that there are quite a few threads currently running in which your interested in one car or another. Just curious as to which one you are really wanting/after?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ya know.....you better do some homework on some of those "grandpa" cars. There are some 50s cars that if sold right just may be able to buy you a Hemi car or two. Did you get a list of what you saw? You would be VERY surprised at the value of some of that old iron......some cars can top 200-300K for the right ones

Any Desotos? Looks like the one in the picture is an Imperial.....worth more then you think if in good condition. I would start doing some homework if I were you. What is she going to do with them? Are they for sale?

One Grandpa car I really like are '66 or '67 Chevy Impala's Bel Air's, & Biscayne's 2 or 4 doors. :yesnod: I like '67 & '68 Fury's too. Mopar made a few grandpa cars I like in the '60s.

I am making a rat-rod out of a 1950 international pick-up truck.  It will be mounted to a 4x4 dodge truck, or maybe a Ramcharger.  I can't wait.

DUDE!!!!! Do I have to tell you? Does it run? Is it whole? What year? You do know 55-57 have hemis right? 1K is a DEAL! You could easily make a couple of grand on that if it's in any kind of shape!

Here is where you can do your homework.....
