Like The king moreless said it is starting to suck and that pretty much sums it up. Pretty soon we will have a bunch of foreign drivers that we cannot pronounce there names just like the cart/indy series. The cup series will then contenue to slide down hill like it has in the last couple years. They sure know how to F-up somthing that was going good. Oh yeah so they won a pointless race ......big deal! I am sure they will probably win one sooner or later but with the big bucks hell a VW could win

Well I for can hardly stand to watch nascar any more. Granted I loved it when Dodge made a come back. But even then I wasn't in love with it as I was when I was a kid. I loved it when the cars actually looked like something on the street.

I HATE IT NOW THAT EVERYONE DRIVES THE SAME CAR. Only difference in cars now are stickers. THATS IT. Why continue with a name of NASCAR which stands for STOCK CAR when nothing on it is stock? I understood when the engines didn't match what was on the street, when none of the cars in the series were being built as RWD or with a V8? But making everyone use the same body? Why not call it the National Association of Identical Cars Automobile Racing?

You're serious - you feel one of the reasons the series is going downhill is because you cannot pronounce some of the driver's last names?  I guess it's good that they have numbers on the cars.

Kulwicki Was from Wisconsin, Millawaukee area " America" .   He also was the last REAL champion Of NASCAR IMO It is a fact that he was the last car owner-driver to be a cup Champ!

That's a very specific example but that's not really the point I guess. I think Toyota will most certainly purchase the grand championship in NASCAR they so desparately want and rednecks everywhere will go "who the hell cares?" and Toyota will continue in their quest for global auto mfg dominance until like GM and all titans, they reach a point of non-sustainability and will fall to new automotive juggernaut who in all likelihood will come from China.

OK, now that I've cleaned up the keyboard. I tried watching the Busch race today but had no interest. Have no interest in watching the 500. I think it's a combination of the following:
1. all cars look/are the same except for stickers.
2. Too many 1.5 mile D shape oval race tracks.
3. too many whiny drivers. I miss the fist fights on the back stretch after the race.
4. The team with the most money to spend wins the championship.
5.For years NA$CAR has tried to muffle any driver who speaks his mind. Now Brian France says the drivers need to show the fans more of their personalities. So Stewart and Kurt Busch do just that and get put on probation for 6 races.

I disagree about the older races not being exciting to watch. Why does everyone think that a freight train of 43 cars going around a track is exciting? Where it has nothing to do with driving, just a matter of who is willing to help who, or who is willing to leave who out to dry? Thats not exciting.

I say take off the restrictor plates. Make the cars appear the way they do on the street, add in roll bars, and such for saftey reasons. But if the car is a 4 door car, it must be a 4 door car to race. If the car isn't available with a V8, then it can't race with a V8.

If a car can safely run around Atlanta or any of the other Cookie cutter tracks at 194 mph then WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU LIMIT THEM AT DAYTONA AND TALLADEGA TO 186MPH? That my friends isn't exciting. Who likes to watch restricted racing? If a car can run 240 then find a driver that is MAN ENOUGH, to hold the throttle wide open and run it that fast for 500 miles. If they could run 200 in 1969 on those skinny tires, then they can definately run 230-240 just as comfortably as 200 was in 1969-1970.

You don't think being inches away from each other for long stretches while driving 180MPH doesn't have to do with being a good driver? 

Restrictor plate races are just about the only racing I can tolerate anymore. Pocono comes to mind...what a snooze-fest that race is.

Toyota SChmoyota! They suck That is my opinion and I am entitled to it, As much as I like Tony Stewart, the Toyota thing just DOESN'T work for me.

They are most likely allow the Nextel cup series to become  a yoyota benefit series just like the truck series. They have done in that series EXACTLY what they claimed they WOULD NOT do. They came in and opened up the checkbook and outspent everybody else. They ran Ford Dodge and Chevy out of the truck series effectively. There isn't much interest in the series from the American manufacturers in the truck series and I can see that happening with the other two series as well.

I can't believe people CHEERING for the japanese cars, CHEERING for JAPANESE CARS!  Where is your NATIONAL PRIDE?!?!!? Where is your soul?!?!?!?!?

Honestly, how much of true "Americana" is actually involved in nascar these days? I mean everything...concessions, companies who make the thousands of signs around the track, the lights for the track, etc, etc, etc. I'll bet it's a lot less "American" than most people think. The cars are just catching up.

I'm a Dave Blaney fan. I'm a BLANIAC. I cheer for the hometown hero. The guy from Hartford, Ohio. The guy who paid his dues on the dirt tracks of America his entire life.

It is Dave Blaney that I cheer for, NOT that steel, aluminium and rubber COT contraption that he drives on Sunday.

He is living his dream. He was given an opportunity that very few will ever get. God gave him a talent that He didn't give to you or me. Would you pass on the chance to make a living driving in NASCARs' premier series? I wouldn't.

Dave is the most normal, down to Earth, everyday kinda guy you could meet. If you ever get a chance to meet him, you'll agree. You will be a Blaney fan too. He is the class of the field. A true gentleman racer. None finer than he.

I don't care what Dave drives. I will always be a Blaney fan. My national pride and my soul is with that All-American boy from North East Ohio. I hope he does well in the Daytona 500 and the '08 season.

Well NASCAR wasn't ever meant to be just an American racing association anyways. There were foreign cars and drivers in it from the very begining. Many open wheel drivers used to drive in the Daytona race even if they didn't run the rest of the series because of the glamour of the race. Foreign automobiles were also in the series as far back as the 50's. That being said, I don't care where the cars come from as long as they go back to LOOKING STOCK. I mean come on, there isn't a single part on that car that looks like a single part on a street version of any of those cars.

Man have you EVER LOOKED at the modern Funny cars and Top Fuel cars??? Not an ounce of difference in either one of them, besides decals. Since when does a top fuel dragster, with an aftermarket Hemi engine have ANYTHING Tyota on it?? One of the TF cars has a big Toyota decal on the side like it started out as a Camry somewhere!!!

I am not as dedicated as I use to be like record it or be pissy If something else came up and I missed it. But now it doesnt matter as much. Gibbs was Pontiac before they bailed and then Chevy and now Yoddas. Big money talks. It's kinda like him going to the Dolphins now to bail them out  Hey would 10 mil for 3 years get his attention
