what is involved in taking an orig. 383 to an electric choke

I am buying a holley st. avenger and was wondering how big a pain it is to take my orig. 383 w/ carter carb and switch it to electric choke.  if its a hassel i may skip the avenger and get the reg. 750 with no choke

There really isnt much to it. You tie into a curcuit off of the alternator so that the only time the choke gets it's power is after the car starts. This way you don't have power to the choke element with just the key on.

Piece of cake... just as Tilar said, you hook the hot wire up to a circuit that is only active when the key is in the run position (but not directly into your ignition circuit obviously). Other than that, it's just a matter of a few adjustments to ensure that it operates correctly.

Hooking it to the alternator won't work if it's a single field alternator since the field wire doesn't always have full battery voltage.

Hook it to the blue wire on the regulator or the double blue wire on the ballast resistor.
