I recall a story about one of the first 747's flights having some difficulty prior to landing in SFO?

Same one you witnessed?

I wish I could have seen a Concorde fly before they grounded them. They sure do look cool.
Thanks for the pics.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I've done that tour myself.

Too bad you can't get in the cockpit...story is that the co-pilot inserted his cap into the expansion joint on the flight leg from England when the plane was supersonic and it is now stuck there forever because the joint closed on it when they went subsonic a few miles from the East Coast.

I watched it come in on final approach to Boeing Field from the 6th floor of Boeing's 10-20 building in Renton.

An awesome sight - wish I could have flown on it.

yeah my dad and grandfather got to fly on it back in the late 80s early 90s, sweet plane, they said it wasa surprisingly smooth flight, not to noisey and it had lots of leg room.

Not surprised it was not too noisy...when you fly faster than the speed of sound you tend to leave some things behind.... :scratchchin:   Saw one years ago flying into Heathrow. It looked very fast!

Flew a DC-3 out of Baja years ago also. Durable little plane. Took off from a dirt strip sloping down to and terminating at the Sea of Cortez. I was getting very anxious until we finally lifted off the ground (with not too much strip left I might add).   :eyes:
