My 69 said Chrysler solid state.  :shruggy:

My 69 Charger am radio also says Chrysler solid state.

My '69 R/T (St. Louis Assembly Plant, January built) R11 AM radio has "Dodge Solid State".

The Daytona's radio was toasted in 1977 and thrown away by 1980 so I have no idea what its original dial face read.

My   am - chrysler solid state
     am/fm - chrysler solid state

Yeah but those St. Louis built 69's were odd all around. Not even using the same color to paint their tail panels.

My 500 has a Chrysler solid state radio, granted its the bottom of the ladder R11.

That's exactly the reason I specified which plant my car came from.  Not the first time something (or someone) from St. Louis has been called odd, for sure...

Oh, and those R11 radios are by far the most popular radio installed that year.  Even though they were the "lowest" radio option, I think what was under the hood was more important than what was on the dash.  At least that's how it was in 1969 anyway - nowadays it's gotta have an MP3 whizbang audiophile system that has more data storage capacity than IBM's entire corporate headquarters had in '69.

I have a dodge music master- Model # 241.

Not sure if it was optional or not

I would prefer my car had an AM/FM in it, but of the many 500's I've looked at over the years, only a handful had the AM/FM factory installed. Then again not many with the AM 8 track either.

69_500

Side note, the last 2 500's I've looked at both had AM/FM radios, and both were Chrysler Solid State radio's.

Charger Steve

Can anyone tell me when the am/fm radio was first available as an option on the Dodge Charger, or any other model for that matter?

For Chargers, they didn't appear until 1968.

No am/fm in the 68 charger data book.

My Daytona and C500 both have Dodge solid state radios.     Jay.

My understanding is that it became available very late in the 68 model year so no, it wouldn't appear in the data books.

Here's a link to the '67 accessory catalog.Am/Fm for the charger/coronet.Just would be dealer installed instead of factory.
