Ok guys, when my dad and I bought our charger in 1998, we bought it from the original owner's son's best friend. So basically this guy saw it from the day it was bought and grew up with the car. Anyways, it is a 68 Charger R/T and it is black, with a white tail stripe, with dark green interior and a dark green vinyl top. We have run the numbers on the fender tag and the code verifies this combo. The guy we bought it from was there the day it came home from the dealership and he said he remembers the owner saying how he had to special order the green and black combo. I have never seen another charger or coronet, dart, etc. with this color combo and I was just wondering if it was infact a special order (restoration book says with a black car you can either get a black or white vinyl top) or if it is just rare cause its not the most desireable color combo..thanks for the help

You could order just about anything you wanted - even if it conflicted with the "recommended" combination. It's definitely odd although green sure was popular back then. The easiest way to tell is to look on the fender tag. On the top line under the 'u' it should have a '1'.

Just the fact that it's a factory black car makes it somewhat rare. I have one with a white top and interior and it's the only 68 I know of in that combination. We're working on a 1968 Charger registry which should help to better answer the question. It would be great to add your car to it.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Absolutely I would definitely join the registry. were having a little trouble figuring out whats what because the build sheet is gone, but were lucky enough to know someone who saw it from day one. I will have to check the fender tag though. Thanks for the help

I once saw a stock red 1968 with green interior. It was rare, but who would want it? Maybe Santa?
