I finally got my different 3rd member in my car.

Went from a 2.76 One legger to a 3.55 Sure-Grip.

I was worried I would lose the crazy burnout ability (granted half ass).

And All I can say is WOHA!  It can still fry the tires like it was built for it.

Plus I can actually get up and go if thats what Im trying to do.

Anyway thanks everybody. I managed to gather the information I needed from here.

And without making a thousand trips to the store to get stuff I forgot.

Only one trip was needed for an 1 1/8 Socket for the yoke.

Anyway thanks again guys for the knowledge.

Cool  :icon_smile_cool:....the torque multiplication difference going from a 2.76 to a 3.55 is significant  :icon_smile_big:

Ya I dunno I measured the nut at 1 1/4

But when I tried to use the 1 1/4 socket it was to big.

Fortunately I purchased a 5 socket that starts at 1" and goes up.

The 1 1/8 was the match.

Dunno.

There are 3 different sized pinion nuts available on 83/4  centersections. They are 1 1/8, 1 1/4 & 1 5/16 and the pinion nut size is a clue to the spline count in the pinion.

The 1 1/8 nut indicates a 10 spline pinion & the other two indicate a 29 spline.

2Gunz ; you have a 10 spline pinion and Natcho has a 29 spline in his. This is important info when installing a new yoke because obviously they are not interchangable....i found this out the hard way !

I'll be doing a very similar change very soon myself.

Only difference being that I'm going from a 2:76 non sure grip to 3:23 sure grip.

Should be smashing fun...yeah baby....behave. ;D
