Yep great site, though im with hemi...there just isnt enough market for us 3rd gen owners yet. But its getting there, as long as the price of 2nd gens keep going up more people will only be able to afford 3rd gens. Which eventually means the price of 3rd gens will also go up but with the increased demand for parts, more people will start to reproduce em.

rare69

just sent a message to your web site asking about price for hood and fenders. any chance for a member discount. :icon_smile_big:

Sooo.... don't know if it's been asked before, but, any intentions of offering a complete body shell? Sorta like the crate Camaro and Mustang? My Charger doesn't need much but my Challenger sure does. And I think back to the '70 Barracuda convertible I parted out years back, so sad.....

You haven't looked at the whole list, have you? :slap: There's a full trunk pan available for 3rd Gen cars, as well as other parts, from what little poking around I've done so far. There's also full 1/4's coming down the chute for 71/72 RR/GTX/Satellites, according to this list; http://www.autometaldirect.com/listing.php?listingid=114&pageid=117 So I would think that some 3rd Gen Charger 1/4's are probably not far behind. Patience, grasshopper. :icon_smile_big:

How can you sell a Charger QTR for 700 and everyone else is getting double that ? Is the stamping going to be sub-standard ? are your projected dates Realistic ? or are they just a wish list ? I love what I see right now .We need 70 charger fender, hood and deck lid !!!

Cody ,  If I were you I'd think about the full 1/4 panels from amd. If they turn out nice, the price diff to buy them will quickly pay off when it comes time to pay a bodyshop for install. the full 1/4s will reqire alot less man hours ,if the are indeed a nice part.  :Twocents:

NMike,

Nothing on the site actually says "in stock".  What you will see, though, is a part showing
"AVAILABLE".  That means that we have received them in the warehouse and are available for sale - if they are in stock.  You will have to call us to make sure we have something in stock or not.  This site was just intended to be informational.  Our web store is down the road.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Larry

Larry,

Good question.  First of all, no, stamping will NOT be sub-standard in any way.  That would be suicide for our business.  We have a standard of quality that we want to be known for so we have put a lot of time and money into making sure that all of our parts are of high quality - both fit and finish.  In most cases, and since production for these pieces back when they were new wasn't as good as it is now, most of our pieces are probably better than what you'd find used.  That's our goal anyway.

Now, to answer your question about how we can sell our parts for so much less than what else is out there, the answer is simple - our parts are manufactured overseas.  We haven't been secret about that.  It is our own tooling but it is actually stamped in Taiwan.  There are varying opinions on sheet metal that is made overseas based on past history with other manufacturers.  Although not always the case, one of the reasons why companies were selling sub-standard sheet metal has been that they were not in control over the quality of the parts.  A manufacturer would choose to make a part and then sell it to multiple companies.  That means that the manufacturer was able to dictate the quality.  So companies would have to sell sub-standard parts because it was the only option they had.  That is not the case with our parts.  All of our parts are made on our own steel tooling.  We are in no way related to any other company that sells sheet metal out there.  As far as availability goes, the quarters provided are best estimates based on production.  Yes, parts can get delayed.  There's nothing we can do about delays.  This doesn't mean 1-2 years though.  Everything on our website is being made.

About the 70 parts, we don't have plans for some of the one year only stuff.  That doesn't mean we won't do it down the road.  Sorry about that.  We've got to put our money into parts that will sell more at first.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a question regarding the steel used.

The steel in many (if not all) of the currently available patch panels is very soft. You can literally put a dent in it with your thumb. I always believed that the reason for this was to reduce wear on the stamping dies.

How does the hardness of the steel that AMD uses compare to the factory metal?

runningman

So far I have gotten the deck filler panel and trunk gutters for my 68.  I can tell you they are a heavier gauge the other replacement sheet metal I have gotten but not sure as to exactly what gauge it is.  Also I haven't installed them yet so I can't speak on the fitment of the pieces but they definitely are high quality.  I am sure Jeremy can give you better specifics.

Jeremy,

This is music to my ears man! I just got off the phone with the gent who has my 68 R/T awaiting a shopping list of parts he is getting from AMD. He says that AMD is going to let him be a Canadian distributor of your products. Shawn Maclean is his name & I hope this is true for us Canucks. I'm getting antsy awaiting the final piece..Tail pan (light panel) & then we are placing an order for Hood,Fenders & Quarters..maybe more. Can't wait!!!!!

MM1R/T,

Good question.  Let me start by saying that I am no metalurgist personally and haven't been thoroughly trained in the properties of metal.  So, with that said, I'll try to answer your question as best as I can.

The basic answer to your question is this:  ductility, maliability, plasticity, thickness and all the other properties of metal are as close to the original specificiations as possible.  Thickness, in my opinion, is the property that your question deals with the most, though.  And the thickness of our previously released parts has never been called into question.  I've written in other posts about the standard of quality that our company wants to be known for.  That standard of quality is what drives the decision to make our parts the way we do.  Yes, the manufacturer is the one actually stamping the parts, but we dictate the quality.  The parts speak for themselves and we have sold a lot of parts to a lot of people so far without any problems with this issue.

I am a little biased since I work for AMD, but our parts are very good.  The best people to ask about the quality, though, is anyone on this board who has purchased something from us already.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Jeremy:

Thanks for the reply. I'm no metallurgist, either. "...as close to factory specifications as possible..." is about all anyone can ask 40 years after these cars were built.

As far as asking people who have bought your stuff, I've done that before and the info is beginning to trickle in. I expect that as more people purchase and install AMD metal we will see more threads posted. I am planning to purchase several pieces from you and intend to post my results.

I'm really optimistic that your parts are going to be great. My Charger needs a bunch of fresh metal and I hope that AMD will give me a better finished product than what I would have had a couple of years ago.

Where in Canada?

I'm working with a shop and am about to place a big order direct to AMD.
If I can simplify things by ordering within Canada, I will as long as price is the same (or better :) re: shipping)
Even better, if there's room for another AMD distributor, say in Ontario, I know someone who's looking to start a business..

dodgecharger-fan,

We have no restrictions on the amount of distributors we have so if the guy you know wants to he can be one.  Send him our way.

I'm not sure who Shawn Maclean is but we have a few sales guys here that could have talked to him instead of me.  I know one of the sales guys has been talking to a company in the Alberta province.  There is a guy in the Ontario province called National Moparts that is in the process of becoming a distributor of ours.  So, aside from the time it will take them to get some stock in, you should be able to buy our parts from someone up there very soon.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I recently had the pleasure of dealing with AMD. I bought one of their hoods for my 69 and it looks amazing. I have set it in place and as far as I can tell the fit will be as good as the original. I would recommend these guys and their parts to anyone in the market.
