Sold my 71 to a collector for a few reasons:

1)I didn't drive it that much,
2)Wanted space in garage,
3)Will be buying property in Montana,
4)Still got my 67 Coronet,
5)Coronet is currently a father/son project (He switched from imports to "domestic"....MOPARS)

I like #4 and #5  :D  - - do you have any pics?

....and don't worry, I don't own a Charger anymore either, and the members still allow me to post here ;)

Maybe another side of cars going up for sale? This was delivered to us at work today.  I work at a global company that supplies Chrysler, GM, Ford, and other brands with various autoparts for new vehicles.  I cut it short and left out the parts we make and the company but you should get the jest of it.  The rest involved how we are going to have to cut back on hours/spending until things pick up.  I don't think this had anything to do with the plastic company shutting down some of the auto plants as those cars we didn't supply parts for and it would have been temporary. Looks like it could get rough for a lot more people in the automotive supplier side of things as it trickles down. Might even see more stuff on Ebay and elsewhere coming up for sale.  Wonder if it will affect future Challenger production as well? :shruggy:

"As we are seeing in today's news the market in the US is weak as well as the continued slump in the real estate market.  As a result, we are experiencing reductions in Customer orders from xxxx which is our xxxx application.  Current indicators show the 1st,  2nd and 3rd  quarters of 2008 to be weak for the US automotive makers.  Total US automotive production (GM, Ford and Chrysler) projected to be down 15% as compared to 2007   Lowest US production levels since 1997."  :(

if i absolutely had to , i guess i would sell the rr but it would hurt me alot . business is slow . it seems people are holding on to what little money they have . i can't see me selling the 68 r/t or my Rod . i went into dept to get them done . it would make me feel like I've failed to sell them. I guess it's a damned good thing I wasn't able to get that Daytona I was trying for in the early 90's, because during the couple rough patches I went through financially, it would have definitely been sold. I guess at the time, I was lucky to own "just a 318 Charger" that nobody wanted to buy, or it would be gone too. I've sold other vehicles in the past that I kick myself for, but that's life.
I'm thankful that I've dug my way out from under the financial burdon I once had & will no longer need to entertain thoughts of selling my Charger...now I just need to get financially ahead far enough to actually restore it. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I had a few patches in the early 90s were I almost sold the Challenger Vert.  Real glad I never did, I wouldn't have gotten much for it back the anyway!

I, too, have almost had to list my car for sale on here and on Ebay.  Reason is, my wife and I are trying to buy our first house.  All that we can afford right now is hardly what the houses are going for in Morris County, NJ but I think we were fortunate enough to find a house in Jefferson Twp.  If we could not find a house, the only option to get our of the crappy apartment complex we were in would to be to sell the charger.  I agree with everyone on here that we get attached to our cars but I felt that in the best interest of my family, my daughter would need a place to grow up and play and as much as I would want her to grow up around with the charger, a house over our heads is the right choice.  Luckily, it seems that I will NOT have to sell the charger as the house is in our price range so I guess I spared myself years of misery and depression of having to part with my baby.  Well, my first baby I should say.  My daughter is now a year and 2 months old.  Time goes by fast....... :o

Price is 64.000$$$ cash... Give me the money and the Charger is yours...

There have been several people interested, but to todays date nobody who asked about it has shown me any money... I'm sick of people wanting to buy stuff, but who lack the funds to buy -Why do these people even say it out loud, that they want to buy something, when they don't even have the money needed :brickwall:

I would buy a '69 project tomorrow if I found one in a reasonable distance.

It's called dreaming and the media's explanation of "immediate gratification"..money is in short supply for a lot of people and they cannot afford to buy a "toy" when they have real concerns at home...

I'm looking at buying another one.  Last week I almost grabbed a 73 SE from a man that's had it since 74.  I'm still thinking about it.  :scratchchin:  My 68 will never be for sale, I'll live in it if I have to.

wow, can you shed some more light on that 73 SE? info? price?

i would sell for the right money (for my escort, neon, or dodge truck), but not my 72 or 73 Charger and definitely not my RR.  I grew up in the 73 so it is just not for sale, even though its not rare or desirable to others, it is that way to me.

It's rare because I grew up in it, how many other chargers are like mine? ZERO  lol... so its rare, a real one of one car LOL  :smilielol:

but i love my cars, i really do, and to part with them would mean I am in huge dire straits.  Not happening so far (knocking on wood).

Good luck for those that do want to sell them... but mine will not leave my garage, concrete apron or my property.  Well, not without a few rounds of my 30/30 being fired in hostility that is :D

:iagree:  the only way mine is leaving my hands is after ive spent every single 7.62x39 round i have though my AK, then my .45 comes in to play and if needed, the 12 guages, mines going nowhere, luckily ive got most of the parts i need to restore mine, the costs to me are only gonna be in the engine and trans area and of course paint and tires, my interior is perfect!! guess i got lucky.  that and i work for the government, my jobs pretty secure luckily.  i turned down a 4k offer for my charger last summer, i dont even have that in it yet. :Twocents:

I had thoughts about putting mine up for sale a few times recently but that was mainly due to a streak of bad luck which involved $25k worth of unexpected foundation work on my house and a few other things. Its amazing how overnight(literally) things can take a turn for the worse when you think things are fine and dandy and your finally just getting ahead. Luckly I had a couple of good tax returns that helped out. I ended up selling my 78 TA I picked up last spring. I liked the car but did what I had to do.

I hear ya. It's good to have some investments laying around for hard times. It is better that going into debt.

Only $64?  I'll take it! :D
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

ChargersETC..ETC..

Most are probley selling for quick easy money  :woohoo:    It's awful hard to find someone that doesn't like or want to buy a Charger . Right now it's wintertime cold rain, wind and snow most places  makes it hard to get most folks to want to leave their warm homes and take a road trip to look at car.
With the price most newspapers charge nowadays to place an ad it doesn't pay to list anything unless you can count on guarented results .Nowbody wants to purchase ads only to end up dealing with flakes  :loser: :   that waste your time with crazy trade offers     that they spring on you last minute in your yard looking at your car in person  :blahblah:
I beilieve now is Not! the time to sell a Charger no way :Twocents:
If your looking to sell a Charger I'd advise waiting a few months my guess is around May the price should be back up there as people like to travel and spend as it gets closer to summer time.My guess is by summer time it will be back to big demand and no local cars listed for sale.Right now I've seen want ads offering $500-1000 finders fee for charger leads (just a lead or info on a car for sale) The way the ad looks to me they pay $500-1000 regardless of any new lead but I think to actully see their finders fee bonus the sale has to be finalized :shruggy:.Sounds to good to be trure to me : :Twocents:
Maybee some folks wanted to build a " General Lee" replica and can't figure out what happend to the North American General Lee Fan Club website  :popcrn:   so maybee they gave up on their project. I thought Travis and the rest had a cool club going there  :Twocents: but read everyone has their own opinion posted around the message boards so no need to  :horse:   when last checked studio store had cool Knight Rider replica lisence plates etc...  . No new Dukes movies out now prices down somewhat  :scratchchin:
Wait till Hollywood gets the next Charger movie out then the new post will be why are prices so High for Chargers nowadays  :2thumbs:

The way the Economy is , fuel costs , restoration costs , parts prices , and I think the fad is is running out of steam .
I don't trust the guys advertising finder's fees. If you tell them where a car is , what stops them from buying the car and never paying you ? I will never tell anyone the Mopars that I know about . I'll be just like everyone else .

I have no problem giving someone a lead on a car. That is if I know the person, and that they are buying it for themselves, and not just going to turn around and flip the car for a profit. If I wanted to see that happen I'd just buy the cars that I hear about that are good deals.

Let's see...I'm behind in rent, I have no real job, the clutch on my beloved 4Runner is on its way out and even though I can do it, the parts and the flywheel turn is going to be around $150, it's almost Valentine's Day, I like to eat ...getting closer by the day.

I to had this big idea of buying my charger and restoring it in months, well a year has past and this car sits in a reabilitation state, striped down awaiting more work to be done and restored.  Well bills here and bills there have forced my dream to be on hold. I deal with it knowing my dream car sits securley in my garage paid for and knowing it was saved from being crushed or roting away in some field or behind a shed. It hasn't crossed my mind to sell even though times are a little rough but reading everyones posts about the regret of selling thier dream back in the day keeps me aware that I need to hold out the few month project to maybe now a few year project.

Mines not for sale?  I'm still putting the thing back together.  As for people that finance to buy their toys, why not?  Overall it should be an investment, you should get all or most of your money back if you did have to sell.  I never understood why people find it odd to borrow money for their hobby.  Look at horse owners, boat lovers, that spend 10's of thousands for their hobby. Trucks, trailers, shed, food, the horse, saddles and equipment.  What return do they get other than the enjoyment?  You borrow the money, you insure it, you have fun (you only live once  :shruggy: ) and when it's all over you sell your investment.  Works for me.  If we have money issues the Charger is first to go.  Until then I see it like money in the bank, when my hobby is over, it'll be paid for and money comes back to the family.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
