So guys - We had two bad lifter's in my boss's Hemi...  So we replaced all the lifters with new ones, installed the pushrods, and set the valve lash to 1.5 turns past 0 lash...      the engine fired up and ran quiet as can be...    The next day I went to start it and it was noisy as all sin...      any ideas what would cause such a problem ?  Did we put in too much lash adjustment ?  :brickwall:

Did you break in the new lifters ? 20 minutes at 2000 rpm ?

Normal preload adjustment is 1/2 - 1 turns past zero. It could be a collapsed lifter or they are just bleeding down.

UPDATE:  So...    My dumb ass didn;t realize something when I assembled the engine...    The lifter bores have been bushed for solid lifters and do not have holes drilled in them...      in short - the lifters bled out and do not have a source for oil...         Looks like my little mistake will mean I have to remove and disassemble the Hemi...     :brickwall:
