trunk floor  on the A4 silver ,looks like it is full of bondo / fiberglass  :scratchchin:  no biggie though if you really like the car , easy replaced :yesnod: also rot in the seams on the top of the quarter in where it rolls into the trunk gutter .
the red charger looks like it has the better body from the pictures , but need to see them up close really  :scope:

Regarding the '71 - - I agree about the trunk floor - what a mess.  I 've seen messy caulking on trunk floors, but Chrysler NEVER made any trunk floors that bad!  The caulking actually looks better than the rest of the job!!  :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Is it possible that HLPAG repainted this car??  It was RUSTY CAR!!  The scaliness under that fender tag alone makes me suspicious this was once a rusty car that only got a quick fix up for resale.

That right rear quarter was replaced for sure - - AND DOESN'T FIT WORTH A SHIT AROUND THE REAR BUMPER ...THE CONTOUR IS ALL WRONG!! The door hem flanges (in both doors) look terrible, as well as the upper door jamb area by the front fender, and the R/T emblem is wrong, and in the wrong spot on the front fender. You could never get Gunmetal with painted bumpers!!

In one shot, the right corner of the decklid looks "fat"...and my guess is, it has as much plumber's putty as the bottom of the door skins have.....and that front bumper is so crooked on the right side it's painful to look at .

I think you should pass on it .....not to mention is has a non original motor, and a spray bomb restoration of the engine compartment - - which is also missing all the a/c components and needs some serious detailing (even if the body was perfect) for that 35K asking price!!.  I think you get my point.  :eek2:

pettyfan43

^^ What they Said^^ PLUS for that kind of green, you are missing a LOT of EXPENSIVE A/C stuff, Like EVERYTHING under the hood, who KNOWS under the dash?

AND for that kinda cash, he couldn't pony up for the CORRECT air cleaner? COME ON!!!

That is just what I see besides the bodywork issues.

As for the trunk, compare the Red car's trunk with the gray one. THAT is how it should look. the 340 car MIGHT be worth a closer look.

71gtx

nice 68 c-body valve covers  on the 440 71 rt

Watching both myself. The 71 is too rough. The 72 has been on Ebay about 5 times now. I offer every time. Have you looked at the 72 yourself. Wouldn't mind your take.

yea, ive seen the red one, it is very clean.

I simply say the trunk stuff could it be simply UNDERCOAT and then painted.

From pics, equipment options and relative value still put my votes on the 71 R/T.

If you have the money on hand and doesn't mean a sacrifice would go for it... diff stuff is if you roughly arrives to the price.

Man that trunk does need help - no matter what is the cause. I also see the issues around the door jams and lip of the trunk too. Looks like there may be hidden rust gems. From the underside, it looks pretty clean though - doesn't it? Is that just me? - maybe it's the pics dunno. Might find out there is more solid metal there if you saw it in person.

My '71 came to me with a piece of carpet tarred upside down in the trunk which would have had me run away from it if I only saw that in a pic. Once peeled off (with great difficulty and much swearing) I discovered it was solid as a rock.

The main hidden issues I found later (which I wonder about this '71 on ebay seeing some of those door jams) were in the cowl area, behind the fenders, and around the windshield etc.

It certainly needs some work though.

Pros:

Cassette player, AM/FM stereo Radio
Manual tranny ( track pack package )
tach

Cons:
Rust under vinyl... BTW is that the original vinyl top ?... doesn't look right to me
Rear wing not right located... in fact neither the trunk lid is the right one
cracked dash

nacho between the two R/T's which would you go with?

Nacho-RT74

hard to say... track pack makes it hard to choose... if wasn't because that, probably will go with the gray one :shruggy: . A/C is in my opinion a good stuff. just need to get condenser and compressor

BTW, other cons on blue one:

engine bay is a complete mess ( specially wiring ) for the price I think he expects!

and I think something weird about engine.... those valve covers are not the right ones either

also is manual steering, or missed steering pump.

if you have the gray one 5 min from your place check the stuf mentioned here, specially about trunk. and passenger side quarter.

I think anyone you choose will need some kind of job sooner or later

Stuff is there down the dash. nipples are plugged on firewall. Compressors are plenty around and condenser is not that hard. Lines would be maybe the hardest.

no.

mikesbbody

I havent looked at iether car too close, but it sounds like they both need work. Id personally go for the blue one (i prefer the color) plus its a 4 speed  :2thumbs:

Nacho-RT74

Both R/Ts have imperfections, simply like that.

the deal is which one to deal with... wihch imperfection you want to deal in a future.

gunmetal R/T:
-trunk floor, but basically dirver side.
-some out of shape on passenger quarter, at rear
-that rust around fender tag
-weird stuff above door jam switches
-missed engine bay A/C stuff

Blue R/T:
-incorrect lid
-incorrect wing and location
-front bumper missaligned
-rust under vinyl and fender doglegs
-incorrect vinyl I think
-dash cracked
-lower quarter body lines allmost erased at the end.
-messed engine bay wiirng and miscelaneous.
-Undercoat all around... IMHO is simply not right

Red Rallye
Didn't detailed completelly. Does look pretty solid. Maye a little bit overpriced being a 340 rallye, however being the 340 a rallye by default maybe makes it a little bit special ? :shruggy:

now, as I stated, both R/Ts have some goodies, pretty much diff one from the other on equippment, but which one you preffer ?that's simply a personal choice

Red Rallye is simply a plain jane one, beside the fact is a rallye, what makes equiped with rear sway bar.

BTW gunmetal has rear valence with exhaust cut outs

Blue one is manual steering ( Or missed pump LOL )
