I have seen one thread on the board on this subject and the answer was pretty general.

Anybody have a recommendation on what grey to use on a 2nd Gen Bumper Jacik?

I used regular light gray primer & sprayed clear over it....

Thanks Just 6T9 and tan top. I have done the base in light grey primer and clear and it came out well. Looks like your photo.

Just 6T9, I also used the Hammerite Hammered metal finish you recommended in another thread for the rod and it worked really well.

I painted the operator right on the rod. I just covered it with a plastic bag and did the rod in two phases, letting it dry in between and moving the operator from one end to another.

To get it off the rod you need to grind off the peened edge on the end pin with a dremel tool. Then you put the pin back in and from what I have been told you need to get the pin  "re-peened"

You can get a non factory pin and retaining clip from Ebay seller oldbone77
