Hey all I am new to the boards and have a '69 Charger RT that I should be finishing up when i get back to the states in june and have already found lots of great info on the boards.

But this is a question on finding a specific vehicle, 1969 Dodge Coronet, that was my dads first car that he owned for over 20 years then passed hands a couple times and then became my brother first car until he got smucked by some lady and sold it a about ten years back.  And i want to find it and bring it back into the family for his 30th bday.  I know he sold it to some guy in Circle MT, but I dont have the VIN or anything now but am workin on that.

Basically my question is, is there a way to track a vehicle by its VIN through like the state regestrations or title??  I would really like to get ahold of this vehicle before his bday in september.  It would be a great surprise for my brother.  Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry i got a little long winded for this simple question.

Thanks
Kyle

  Welcome to the site.  here in the states I would go to the town I previously owned it and look it up in tax records, they listed the VINS.  There is probably a Coronet registry?  I know they have a site.  You can contact the DMV in MT and see if they have record of it? Good Luck. Welcome.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

If you have a friend who is a cop they may be able to type in the VIN and see if it is presently registered and where.

Hey thanks for the help guys now all i have to do is get ahold of that VIN # without my brother gettin suspicious, hopefully the sister-in-law will prove some worth in that department.  We know the city where the guy lives that my brother sold it to in like 97 or 98 but thats about it for now, this would be so much easier if i were at home :eek2:

Here are a couple pics of my '69 and one with my '06 too

Actually the color is Prowler Purple but dont know if I'm gonna stay with it, thinking of going with the new GOMANGO since i want to go with a vinyl top and bumble bee stripe that dont stick out very well on the purple but dont know for sure yet....

Here are a couple more pics of the "real" one:

Oh ya and i think we found the Coronet down in Missouri, the sister-in-law proved quite useful.  Now we just have to see if the guy will sell.

Cool!

Nice rides, too. BOTH of them.  ( :nana: to the haters.  )

I don't know if it's just the lighting in the pictures, but if you're seriously considering a colour change on the 69, I'll give you a hearty nudge in that same direction.
That colour just seems to flatten the car out. Even more so than brown does...
The new GoMango colour would be awesome.

Good luck with the 'net.

I knew there had to be a couple out there that didnt hate the new CHARGER, you haters dont know how many similarities it shares with my '69.
I kinda thought it flattened it out a little to, its just not a good color to show off those sexy lines, plus it would be kinda cool to have a matching pair of Chargers too.

Anyways we found the Coronet but the guy has put nearly $45,000 into it and and said its not really the same car since all he has used is some of the body, so back to the drawing board i guess.  Do you guys think i should try to find another Coronet that was just like it or just let it go, cause is it really the same if its not the actual car??

I would think even if you tried and did not get his original car, the next best thing would be to get him another 69 Coronet and redo it exactly like the one he had. You have to remember that your hard work will mean more to him than anything and the thought will count for more than you might think. I say find another and start fresh.

I think i'd look for a different one.  Probably better deals to be had.

I thought you might be interested in a matching pair painted up the same color as your's...

  Jonathon's blower '69,..

and the regular one...

they also have and are restoring one of the first '68s number eight built as i recall, and a cuda...

lots more pictures of chargers at the Gotta Pic of your Charger" thread up top here on Gen Disc..  :yesnod:
