I have a 1974 440 in my Charger, it is the 230 hp version. What do I have to do to make it the 250 hp version?
I also have a set of 1971 HP exhaust manifolds(would this help).

It already has flat tops. So now what cam and carb jets and what else make the extra 20 horse?

Are these stock flattop pistons ? How far below the deck surface are they ?

The stock pistons for a 74 440 are very low compression....in the 7.8:1 range. It's difficult to make good power with such low static compression.

HemiHead was suggesting that you swap out the pistons for an aftermarket flattop like the speedpro 2355 6-pack replacement pistons to bump the compression up.

that low compression is perfect for boost. but the cast pistons won't like ir for long :D
