A Mopar Muscle magazine rant

I know I'm being petty but I got my April issue in the mail today and it seems that MM have gone to a cheaper paper stock for the cover and content pages.  I'm sure there are thousands of good dollars reasons why they've done this but I tend to store my car magazines after I read them and the cheap paper doesn't lend itself as easily to this.  I hope the rest of the mags aren't planning to follow suit on this because as dumb as it is, this is a deal breaker for me as far as renewing my subscription goes.  :soapbox:

You already have the April issue? I just got the March issue (the 25th Anniversery one). The pages do seem thinner in the March one but its not much of a difference. I like MM WAYYYY better than Mopar Action so I'll continue getting MM.

What did it take for those parts I sent you to get to where you live?  A month?  You really need to move closer to the general population. :hah:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Well I still get all 4 of the Mopar Magainzes. Mopar Musle, Mopar Action. Mopar Collectors Guide, and Mopar Enthrusiast. And since there is a slime chance that at any time one of them could have an article on a Daytona or a 500 I will get them all for as long as they produce them. I do know what you mean though about them not storing very well. I have multiple boxes in the attic storing may years worth of magazine collections.

I buy mopar muscle from the news agent, but i also have a subcription I have found the covers on the news agent magazines are of better quality they are more along the line of MA, MCG, or ME (a harder cover shiney too). The sub mags have the softer cover which tends to smudge and damage easier.

Ghoste

Yeah, I noticed the newstand version was better too.  Between that, and every other issue it seems like they have a catalog supplier special (read advertiser filler) I have run my course with MM.  I had let my sub with them lapse once before back in the 90's when they started to feature the same cars over again.  Maybe I just don't fall into their target demographic.

I think the magazines should feature one issue per year where it's just 100 pages of readers' tech questions being answered.

terrible one

That would be really cool, I enjoy reading that part of the magazine.

The other thing i have noticed (may not seem like a big deal but it kinda bothers me) is the blank space on the magazine cover (sub mags) i assume for the sub label? I know this was used for the address before but now my MM just has a blank label for no particular reason  :shruggy: my ME mag is the same, but im guessing it wouldnt be like that from the newstand. My MA and MCG dont have that on the covers (both newstand and sub mags)

Ghoste

The blank space irks me a little too but not as much as the cheaper quality paper.  I think the newstand ME has a full cover but I don't know for sure.

I only subscribe to MCG - I find the content of the others are so hit or miss that they're not worth buying every issue (that - and the local bookstore stocks the other mags, so I can pick and choose the ones I want)...

MA always seems to have the most Question and answer pages.  :2thumbs: Just wish it wasn't bi-monthly, I'm getting eager for the next one  :D

:ricky: Well deserved for the informative, knowledgeable board you and Chris have put together.  :2thumbs:

MM has it's ups and downs but it's still #1 in my book, :Twocents: been subscribing since around '96 and I think I still have all the issues.  Don't know why I save them but I do.  Hopefully MM comes back up here for the big 2 day show like they used to years ago.

I'd still take Mopar Muscle over Mopar Action.  I subscribe to MM and MCG.  I suffer through the terrible Enviro-Machism gargage they insist on putting in Mopar Collectors Guide because I enjoy the magazine.  I've never seen a copy of Mopar Enthusiast.  Where do you find it?

Ghoste

It's fairly new and I've just started to see it on newstands the last couple of months.  I first encountered it last summer.
