Hello,
I notice that alot of R/T owners do not paint their bezels in the proper shade nor with the corrct blackout in the bezel light surround area, frankly becuase they are difficult to do correctly! Most of the ones I have seen are all silver or sprayed black(which is only correct on a rubber bumper car.)I took my bezels and actually painted them with black in the correct areas. It is not easy to do and is very time consuming. On top of that you got to have alot of patience! :yesnod:
Well, I have been thinking of providing a service of restoring the bezels to the factory appearance.I am also considering doing custom colors as well.I have done mine and they came out very good! I choose to do mine in custom colors.

Here are a few "after" shots of the bezels.I left the lenses in place for "dramatic effect!" :icon_smile_big:

There is 1 person that I know of that does the bezels, but in my opinion he is pretty high, but his work is good!
I have not set any prices yet but I wanted to get a feel to see if there was a market for this service.I am also considering front grille restoration in the near future.Tell me what you all think, your opinion is appreciated! :yesnod:

My '72 has semi gloss black lights, I guess the silver is strictly a '71 thing?

Is the Gold outline on the bezel of your own doing or is that an original thing ?

That's very nice work. Mine are black only because I preferred the look with my cars color. Stands out more whereas it looked lost/bland in the silver. Just my opinion  ;)

Thanks for the responses thus far!...So do you see a need or interest?  :scratchchin:

Ak' ..72 Rallyes bezels were painted Black,in 71 the 71 Rubber bumper cars had the bezels Black. The R/Ts bezels were different. That's the reason I didn't offer the service for 72 Rallyes becuase they are painted in one uniform color in which anyone can do themselves.

71 Bee Man....The Gold surround is an extra touch I did.

Someone probably painted them black, unless you bought the cars new. Then that is a new one to me. :shruggy:

I agree, you never see the black painted in. Yes, that would be time consuming. Same as 72-74 Challenger tailights, never painted right. I seems strange that you went through all the effort to do it 'proper' and then you added the gold?  :2thumbs:

Goldfinger71

Ops! I forgot about the Charger 500's!

I did the Gold becuase I am building my car as a " day 2" custom restoration. :yesnod:
You will see why I did this in the near future. :yesnod:

Ok, I know their is a good probability that both my RT and 500 had silver louvers but I purchased the 500 from the original owner back in the 80's and the RT in the early 90's from the second owner . When I restored both sets of louvers I glass beaded them down to bare metal and there was no evidence of any silver paint. I looked threw many mopar mags and found a picture of an original 71 RT with colored bumpers and the louvers were silver. :scratchchin: Didn't think this was possible. Mother mopar sometimes did whatever she wanted to do as a car went down the line.
Whats correct? I guess it depends on who you ask.  :shruggy:

I bought a set on ebay from a guy, not sure if orginal or not (probably not) but they are painted black in the center and silver around the edges.  I think I will keep that look when I restore them...
